Google AI says: "Yes, lenders can consider immigration status when underwriting loans, and visa holders may be considered more risky than citizens. This is because immigration status can correlate with national origin, which is protected under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). Lenders can consider immigration status to assess their rights or remedies to recover funds, or if otherwise required to comply with other laws. For example, if a visa expires and the borrower must leave the country, the lender would be unable to recover the balance due on a loan."

I chose to do a 1 pay lease and just pay everything at signing. I also had offers for roughly the same total price with $0 down $254 per month, $1k down $207 per month, and $2k down $161 per month. Admittedly those are slightly better than the $6k upfront but they didn't come with the extra $2k in options which I chose to use on lease end protection and tire/wheel protection

Like many of the Hyundai designs but these EV designs are lame and they shouldn't be called as SUV ! Politely call it as Hatchback!!

No the total of the actual "lease payments" excluding taxes and fees was $4388.16. Adding all taxes and fees brought it to $6006.62 which I chose to just pay off all at once so I have no monthly payments now.

Taxes went up about $1k per year compared to a CR-V.
So you paid 6k to drive a car for a little bit and gave it back? Or what happened?

How did you find this out? Also in CT - trying to figure out if this is worth it.

And where TF is OP seeing $225 a month AND 225 down? Thats insane. Is CO the only state to offer it?
Strange... I do see this being offered in CT on the Hyundai website AND CT residents should qualify for the CHEAPR rebate, with some being eligible.for.CHEAPR+NEW, which I would think would cover the required money down, but I've never worked with that program before so I'm not sure of the specifics.

Never leased before but curious what other SDers would do at the end of 2 yrs? Let's say I trade in my car with an outstanding loan and get lucky and walk away with 6k that covers this lease for 2 years. When it's time to return or buy, I'm left without a vehicle and have to do new lease or buy new subject to prices at that time. Is leasing slick or not?
I got one of these last week and my guess is at the end of the two year lease they will have to reduce the buyout price because of how much EVs will advanced by then.

it's slick because I paid very little and I don't own a another depreciating asset.

i like 1 pay deal.
much better deal.
less $ in long run.
if one cannot afford to pay it all up front. probably shldnt be doing a ev lease anyways.

The best deal is having the cash available and paying the lease over time.

you dont ask about car insurance for an ev? it requires a premium full coverage highend electric car insurance for an ev lease. come out its about as much as your monthly lease. so basically double of what your seeing.
What? We pay ~$700/year for a Polestar 2 with $0 comprehensive and $500 collision deductibles

State Farm, New Hampshire. When we lived in Boston it was $1900 per year but that was only $200/year more than our 5 year older gas Volvo, so while yes New Hampshire is cheap for insurance, in my experience an electric car hasn't been more to insure.

Seems there are a lot of people here who have never negotiated a lease. If you email/call/show up and ask "how much to lease X?" - you're going to get shafted.

Go on Edmund's lease forums and find what lease/bonus cash is available in your area. Also use that forum to find the prime money factor (lease interest rate) and residual. Do some research to see what the car is actually selling for - I always start with at least 10% off of MSRP.

Go to local dealership websites and find specific vehicles - noting the specific stock number.

Use this info to built a lease deal using the calculator on leasehacker.

Contact the dealer and make an offer. "Greetings I see the 2024 Hyundai online - stock number XXXXX. Based on the numbers and lease cash available I'd like to make an offer of $X per month for 24/36 month lease with only first payment due at signing. Let me know and I can come by later today to do the paper work."

I have signed some insane deals over the years using this basic framework. The info these days is so readily available. Use it! Haggle! Good luck!

Isn't anyone worried about the value of these dropping significantly? In a lease aren't u responsible for the different at the end

Only if you plan to buy it out at the end. Most people turn them in.

Essentially yes. Pay $6k, drive the car for 2 years then give it back. When factoring in depreciation, gas, and maintenance, it ended up being essentially the same 2 year cost to own as a 2017 CR-V
