Just a heads up from someone who owns this. It's a lot of work and cost for what you grow. Keeping track I could have easily bought the produce at the store for way cheaper without the constant water changing and adding the growing agent. It's nice to have but if your not committed to doing the work it will end up at goodwill which is a great place to buy one for 20 bucks
I only add 2 liters, or 64 oz of water every week and it's actually faster and cheaper than growing the plants outside in pots.

you won't beat out industrial farms for value when it comes to produce, the real benefit is to have fresh herbs or similar, or to treat it as a hobby (it's fun to watch your plants grow).
"A lot of work" is imo a mischaracterization though and I'm a very lazy person. You just add water every few days, nutrients every 2 weeks. The main work is pruning and harvesting. If you add an Aerovoir (supplemental water tank) or make one on your own, you really only need to top up water when you add nutrients, which we're talking like 5 minutes every 2 weeks.

Can you use regular miracle gro for these? I'm trying to start a pineapple in a mason jar and thinking maybe it could use some nutrients lol
If you blend the miracle grow with water in a blender for like a minute and then add it to the hydroponic tank…

Can't speak about the pineapple thing, but using something like Maxigrow in these is much cheaper and easier. I don't think Miracle Grow is complete, unless they're making something specifically for hydroponics now.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. "Use to encourage growth of seedlings and cuttings and to stimulate rapid growth through the vegetative growth stage" that's pretty much exactly what I'm trying to do lol.

I would say this isn't a great choice for salads. I will admit that just buying a salad mix is more cost effective. I enjoyed using this for things like sandwich toppers or wraps for korean food. I have lots of use cases where I just need a relatively small amount I need and love having it fresh.

what do people grow in these? I bought one

In regards to teh pineapple, I started a pineapple about 6 months ago in a mason jar. After moving it to soil, I tossed it under some cheap grow LED's that I had from a past aerogarden type device I kickstarted names Pico. The pineapple is thriving now and will be moved outside once the Northern California temps stabile some,

They might be closing out these in favor of the Harvest 2.0 which came out earlier this year. Many people think this one is superior to the Harvest 2.0 so this might be a last chance to get one.

I have three and growing stuff in them is just a hobby, not for saving money.

I've cut the top of a pineapple and put it directly in soil. Now I have a couple of plants. They are very easy to grow. We've gotten one decent sized pineapple so far. It is sitting near a window and only gets sun in the morning; no grow light needed.

I have one that holds 6 pods at a time... I don't see how you can grow that many. It's not recommended to grow lettuce and fruits together. And if you do grow lettuce, it gets to be huge and blocks out light for other plants.

Anyone have experience using this just for the seed starting part? I'd like to grow a handful of seeds for transplanting to outdoors (like hot peppers or basil, possibly cucumber or some other things). I've used the peat pods but found them kinda tedious to water correctly. And having a grow light at the right height makes for a janky setup in the corner of my kitchen. This looks like it'd be simpler but the switching hydroponic to soil has me a little nervous.

I ended up using this cheap self watering starter with good success on several different seed types for transplanting or microgreens, the water wicking mat just keeps pulling water up from the reservoir so you just refill like once a week. Once I used the initial soil pucks I refilled with normal soil and it worked fine. I didn't use any light just put it on the ground near a window.

I have 3 that I start seeds in, and I also have shelves with grow lights and have seeds started there. The aerogarden seeds have by far been the easiest seed starting, with basically no work at all. You will want to transplant before the roots get too long. Since these aren't in grow baskets they are easier to remove for transplanting. But cucumber is probably not one I would start in it.

I started basil and parsley in it, wild bergamot and echinacea..all did very well and are further ahead than the ones I started in seed trays and peat pellets, peat pellets did the worst for me and had the most work. I was worried that they wouldn't do well in the aerogarden since there isn't a humidity dome option for the seedlings but I saran wrapped one and didn't the other and both had the same germination rates. You will see some white mold and algae but it's not harmful to the plants. You can remove it if you don't like it though, or use peroxide to help prevent it.
