Que the "why is this a gaming laptop" debates.

I have this laptop. Love it for my needs and casual non AAA titles gaming. I said before, this laptop is a unicorn for those who need a laptop like this - light, compact, 2in1, 13in touchscreen with graphics that isnt a lame Iris which almost all (if not all) 13in 2in1s have. G14 is a better laptop for the $ if you dont care about the 2in1 touchscreen.
Battery life is "ok", sometimes windows search bar disappears when you start typing, sometimes laptop boots into bios for no reason on startup, a usbC bios updated nearly bricked all my usbC ports for some reason (forgot how i undid it). My only gripes. Coming from a HP 13in spectre, this 16:10 screen is great. I dont think i can do another 16:9. I have the ROG port capped off with a 3d printed piece except for the usbC portion of it to get another usbC port on this laptop. Using it with a wacom bamboo ink pen for drawing/graphics.

its basically the same as the ROG ally in terms of gaming performance, so if they call that thing a gaming device, this counts.

its an ROG ally minus the controllers but add the keyboard and a larger screen

What's the 14.5" version of this with 32GB RAM? That would be ideal.

Thank you! I have been eyeing this for a while. It's perfect for my middle school son--coding and piano practices, and light gaming for us if we go out on a trip.

Technically "YES". Practically, it might "NOT". While USB4 is advertised as a Thunderbolt 3 equivalent and should be compatible with eGPU's, it will depend on the manufactures and how they implement it since they are not obliged to follow unified standards.
I highly recommend researching the laptop and the eGPU before buying or if the return policy is good enough for you, may be try it yourself.

eGPU's are very hit and miss, and just when you think you have finally gotten it to work, it will stop working all of a sudden.
Typically, a true TB4 port from an intel chip will have much higher successful rates than a USB4 from AMD.

And worse still always from people who the last time they played a video games was before GPU's were even a thing but they care so much about proper nomenclature in 2024.

I'm just upset there are no open boxes ANYWHERE near me Frown

I also have this laptop (had it since December when it was ~$700 open box by me).

As my primary work laptop, it's absolutely amazing. I actually get pretty great battery life (had an international trip and lasted 10hrs between work / streaming / etc,)

Can you DM that 3d printed cover? That sounds awesome, I love using the port on the left side but hate having so much exposed.

I'm considering this laptop, but was hoping someone could chime in on if it would fit my needs. First of all, I will not be using it as a gaming laptop. Aside from my son playing Roblox sometime, it will not be used for that. I am mostly looking for a work laptop. I use for Office, web browsing, Hulu, and other programs that don't require much machine power. However, I will be using it also be using it data analysis type work with programs that cover SQL, R, Tableau, Python, etc. On my previous laptop, machine learning in Python took a long time to resolve. Finally, it will mostly be on a desk attached to a couple of monitors, so weight is not an issue. Thanks.

It'll be great, but consider that it does have a 13.4" screen. About the same size as a macbook air, if that's sufficient for reading and coding, I'd say it's a solid deal

ironically i did consider getting a rog ally while i was debating on the x13 as the ally could be a sort of a cheap mini docked pc but decided that if i wanted to ever be mobile that the little screen wasnt worth it.

The CPU is a high end CPU that beats out a lot of processors in benchmarks including the Apple M1 chip and the I7 11800H as examples. The only real issue with this in terms of programming is that 16Gigs of ram is a good amount but 32gigs would be better as for programming the more ram the better and this being soldered per the information wont give you that option.

So if you look at your existing work, if you never look like you go past that 16gig mark, you should be fine.
