Still, I would look into Command mounting strips for anything going on the wall.
Depending on your wall's finish, the adhesive on this velcro will either not stick or it'll stick too well and damage your paint.

Isopropyl alcohol is ideal. Any cleaners that leave a residue will just impede or break down the adhesive.
There's also guidelines for what materials it will stick to, what temperatures it operates best within, and how long to leave it before attempting to stick anything to it.
That last part seems like it doesn't matter much, but if you think about how adhesives work in general, there's probably some chemistry behind it.
I have a TV on an articulating arm, so not flush to the wall. I have the seldom used remotes on this stuff on the back of the TV. Perfection.
