VA Panel is fine for monitors - the user is typically sitting dead center (very common for ultrawide in this price range) but just be mindful that the super highly rated one on RTINGS is the 34GP83A-B, not the 34GP63A-B that this is. That one on RTINGS has an IPS panel and is significantly brighter (this isn't tested but LG says it's 300 nits.

For $250 this is still a good deal, comparable monitors from name brands are $300-$350
