My parents have it and have had no issues cleaning it. There's also a clean function of some sort that runs hot water through the spout. They keep a cup on there to catch that water rather than having to take the tray out more often.

If you don't care about automatic milk frothing, Costco has the version of this with the manual milk frother for $450.
I've had this model for about 6 months now (bought it from Amazon for 600) and I love it. I'm a stay at home dad (to a toddler), and if things aren't dishwasher safe, I generally don't get them. The frother comes apart in a few pieces that are dishwasher friendly (I stick to the top rack), and the main black lid part can be just rinsed under warm water (it doesn't seem that milk actually even touches this part). And, I don't even wash it every day. Because the machine pulls the milk up through the straw to heat it, the bit that remains in the container is still cold. I read that many people just pop the whole closed container back in the fridge for the next day, so that's what I do. I wash it all every couple of days. and as someone else mentioned, after you make your drink, you press a button and the machine runs hot water through the frother to clean it
Hope that's helpful.
FWIW- This is the nicest (and most expensive) coffee machine I've ever had, and in my experience, I'd say buy with confidence.

The Costco edition is truly limited, you cannot make a simple coffee because it is missing two buttons. It's really dumb. You cannot even adjust the water amount for the espresso key to make it a coffee, and all the latte stuff will not even light up unless the frother is in. I know it's an espresso or latte machine, but selling an automatic coffee machine without the coffee button is really dumb. If you want to use this machine as a plain coffee machine and have the automatic milk frother you cannot buy the Costco edition. It's missing the coffee button, and NO, there is no work-around. Read the Costco reviews. ;-) That's why we bought from Delonghi a year ago.

The Costco with automatic frother has 5 buttons, the full edition 7 buttons (coffee and iced coffee). Iced coffee does not do anything extra (no lower temp etc.) it's just another button where you can adjust the water amount for a large glass. But it does have a magic coffee button, or 2, since you could just use the iced button as another button with different water level, say for two people with different preferences. It's still hot coffee with the iced button. Just marketing for "customization of your recipe".
Do you happen to know how the coffee settings work? I.e., is it just pulling a very long espresso shot, doing a normal shot then adding hot water that's bypassing the grounds, or has some else entirely?

Oh, and do you know if you can tweak the water amount on the espresso settings on the non-costco one or is that just for the coffee buttons?

Thanks!

How many espressos can you get out of a 2.5lb bag of beans? We have a Nespresso pod machine and are looking at moving over to something like this. Wondering on cost difference.

Looking for some feedback between this one and the Philips 5400 series espresso machine with latte go. Any thoughts anyone?

This is not the exact same model. The costco model has 5 one-touch recipes, the amazon one has 7.

I have a lattego 3200 and here is one difference that would matter to me:
On the Philips unit, the height of the espresso spouts is adjustable.

I am wrong. It is adjustable on this unit as well.

If you can spring for $750 or $650(refurbished) the gaggia cadorna prestige is a jump up in class of superauto. Coupon Ultimate50 for 50 off $400.

Are the brew groups any different? Saeco / Phillips / Gaggia are all brandmates now, and I understand they use most of the same parts: https://www.reddit.com/r/superaut..._prestige:

I had a Philips 5400 and now a Saeco Xelsis. The Xelsis and Cadorna internals seem very similar with the right-hand puck container, side opening door, brew group placement, even an identical residue drawer.

https://www.reddit.com/r/superaut...accademia/

Philips owns both the Gaggia and Saeco consumer lines so superautomatics from all three brands use essentially the same brew group and grinder designs. Once properly dialed-in, the quality of a basic espresso shot will be identical across the range. The differences between machines at the various price points come down to milk systems, number of recipes, interface/aesthetics, and build quality. Get the one with the features you'll actually use.

Phillips 5400 is on the same level as the cadorna and most likely close to the same internals. Actually looking further the 5400 being simpler with milk may be the reason the gaggia has come down in price.

That's the point. They all have the same internal brew mechanism - from the lowly 2200 at $299 up to the fancy Gaggia at $999. What's different is the user interface and the number of options in the GUI, plus features like milk and such. The actual coffee or espresso quality should be exactly the same.

Given it's the same brew group, that's the only possible outcome, but do note that easier ways to change water temp and coffee strength add flexibility and for some will be worth the added spend.

thanks! that at least addresses the 2nd question, any insight on the 1st one? the table on pg. 20 kinda implies that it's just pushing extra water through the espresso shot to make the coffee settings based on the way they're listing the americano settings...

Bought this last Christmas and our family loves it. Makes great lattes, no reason to go to Starbucks anymore.
