Sofirn SP10 PRO is currently on sale for $14.12 with the rechargeable battery, $12.55 without.

https://www.sofirnlight.com/produ...ght-5200lm

Shipping is $3.99 since it doesn't hit their $29 shipping threshold. I also grabbed the HS40 which is also on sale to offset the shipping.

Or you can add the diffuser or magnetic cap for a dollar more to go past the 29 dollars amount. It is below to add as a bundle.

Here I am with a 20 year old maglight that shoots a beam to the back of my 2 acre yard and is nearly indestructible, lol. I do have a modern maglight with the led as well, but honestly no new flashlight can be put through all the adventures this thing has been and survive. I even dropped it to the bottom of a lake one time and retrieved it 2 weeks later and it still worked.

That maglite is pretty good quality I'm sure, but I doubt it lights up your yard like an 1800 lumen light..

LOL, yeah unfortunately my old 4D "self defense" mag light hasn't really been used in years. It was my go to flashlight back in the day, but LED's and Lithium Batts took the crown away a long, long time ago. Now if I ever get attacked by a pack of ninjas, unfortunately my little sofrin EDC isn't gonna help me out anywhere near like the old 4D maglight would.Wink

I don't understand the HS-40 battery life. At 800 it's 2 hours but on turbo 2000 it's 2.5 hours. Am I looking at that incorrectly?

Or…just upgrade your maglight to LED. Thats what I did. I keep mine in the car.

I saw this too and not buying it because of the incompetence of the marketing team

Or pull the halogen from an older huge spot light, upgrade the heat shield; and fry eggs with a 4D maglight. Especially after modding for Li Ion batteries. It's a thing...

All flashlight specs from every manufacturer are terrible anyway and should be ignored. Even worse are the clearly fake specs on random amazon lights of course. The official ANSI specs for runtime is for when the output drops to 10% of the original output, which is ridiculously dim.

Sure, Sofirn should've been at least logically consistent, but if you really care about runtime you should look for reviews with runtime graphs that tell the real story:

https://1lumen.com/review/sofirn-...erformance

Pretty good, though temperature regulation isn't ideal but is spread out over 2 minutes for each of these spikes, so it's somewhat gradual.

I mean plenty new lights can, you just have to get one that is built for that purpose (which is not these). Many flashlights are potted and can take a hell of a beating above or below water. And of course they'll be way smaller and brighter than the old maglight, but won't have that nice bonk factor for self defense.

Is the HS40 a flood or spot? it doesn't mention on their website although someone commented "flooded their yard".

Do it.

In my experience the HS40 is a spot with a dash of flood thrown in.

Thanks. I was never a fan of spot headlights unless you can adjust to flood. The spot is blinding when you look at something close by.
