Whatever you do, make sure you get the warranty. Bought xm4 ear buds from here and after a year or so they were affected by a very common issue (one side discharges very quickly) and there's no way to solve. Apparently xm5 are affected as well.

Fortunately they came with the 2 year all state warranty (now it's extra) and I got my money back in a couple of weeks

These are not refurbished, as they don't replace the battery or fix any issue with function whatsoever. They don't even test the units.



I received a pair where one of the earbuds had an 8min runtime. The return process was easy and they paid for shipping both ways. The replacement works great and meets my expectation.

The Linkbuds S for $48 is such a steal. Even $60 is an amazing deal. 90% of the XM4's sound quality minus the inevitable battery issue.

The battery capacity issue was supposedly caused by a bad firmware version that overcharged the batteries. Sony has allegedly fixed the problem with newer firmware.

With a heat gun and steady hands, you can replace the batteries with new ones. Batteries are about $14 shipped for a pair on eBay right now. I've done two pairs of earbuds so far and my XM4s are running like new again.

Bought a refurb pair of XM5 from Secondipity through Ebay. Great headphones but would turn off by itself randomly. Not often, but at least once per 1-2 hour session. Didn't bother me enough to go through the hassle of sending it in for repair. After almost a year, I finally got tired of it and filed a warranty through Allstate. Sent it in and got it back in about 4 days total. They replaced some parts and it's working great so far.

From my understanding, the +2 years of warranty is only if bought through Ebay. That's something to keep in mind.

I really like my Linkbud S - however the mic pickup for phone calls is awful. I've had mine for almost 1.5 years and no battery issues.

Secondipity is great BUT these are very poor earbuds. The previous version 1000XM4 far superior in terms of fit and noise cancellation. These earbuds put a lot of unnecessary pressure on the ear, the cover for the tips very rigid and if you're looking for ANC, there really isn't any (it's more like bad noise isolation). I have a pair of $15 Edifier earbuds from 3 years ago, where it blocks more sound than these.

If you have a Target nearby and have a few minutes to waste, it's worth checking for the WH-XB910N and the WF-1000XM5 earbuds. I lucked on brand new in box, never opened pair of XM5s for 70% off ($89.99) a couple months back - I think as the XM5s are newly released, someone made some kind of one off error. The 910Ns though, they might be trying to really get rid of them as they are a bit older. On the headphones case with the locked glass, they had two clearance shelf tags for the 910Ns - one said $174.99 (30% off) and another said $74.99 (70% off). I asked the guy to check the price and he scanned the shelf bar code for the 30% off clearance tag and was surprised it showed 70% off @ $74.99 on his handheld.

Just wanted to point out that one is "repair" and the other is "replacement". Something I looked into before checking out.

Got em since day one. Luckily there hasnt been an update that kills them like the XM4s. If you're on the fence and don't mind refurbished earbuds then go for it

Fuggit, grabbed some Linkbuds S and the over the head Midnight Blue XM5s. Do I really need elite ANC on my earbuds? Nah, especially when I'm grabbing the WHXM5 as well, so I decided to go with the Linkbuds S. Plus, if they crap out a bit too soon, not much buyer's remorse at $48. My xm4 buds are unusable now and I had been getting by on random old buds I had laying around.

Just as a data point regarding Secondipity service:

I received my order of WF XM4 (open box) and the box was empty - buds and case missing, only tips and cable in box. I emailed Secondipity right away and they refunded me within the hour.

The funny thing is, the box was for XM5s! So I almost got lucky with getting XM5s for $51 ($64 - 20%)!!! But the box was empty Frown

Can speak to seller quality. My xm4s arrived in great condition (I swapped ear tips anyway) and they've been fantastic. Never could tell they were used at all.
