Great deal - I'm still rocking the DS216j... these things are pretty great if you have realistic expectations. File backup, security camera video storage, file sharing, local streaming without transcoding... I love mine - and the fact that I'm still getting updates 8 years after original release is a great testament to Synology's support for older generations.

Max drive size is 16TB (x2 for 32TB total).

Personally I wouldn't use the J models. There are many reasons. If you are not familiar, I'd read into it before making a decision.

I may buy one, for fun, but I have lots of NAS's and DAS's and gadgets . It is 110 dollars with 2 bay.

Maybe others can share if they own it, and have other NAS's with more then 500mb RAM.

p.s. I was the only one that shared it ONLY had 500mb ram! Now you can put 2 x16TB hard drive in unit. It is the 500mb ram that is the problem! Let the FOOLS rush in where wise-tech geeks fear to tread.

It all depends on what you use this NAS for. Synology has the ability to run a number of apps but this NAs is not intended for that. If you're running a few apps this would be fine. This NAS would be great as a file server. A lot of people who save and backup up files on USB drives (which has no ram) would appreciate this. This is also great for a remote file backup, just stick it in a remote location with internet (like your grandparents house) and your workhorse NAS can backup to it. For what its worth, this is a steal. I remember buying my first Synology NAS in 2009 for $300 that didn't have the features and abilities as this one.
