Correct, the sound of barbecuing food will likely drown out any sound coming from this thing, much less any normal conversations people are having. The better choices for an outdoor barbecue are going to be much more expensive but will be loud enough to be heard.

Highly recommend the Onforu portable bike speaker. It's about 17 bucks. Had one that I used everyday and it was subjected to numerous hard drops and blows and being left in the elements and kept working well. Finally just bought a new one after three or so years because the speaker is starting to rattle.
A 4000 mah power bank is 2/3 smaller than this size.
I remember those TV with build in VCR, it's a deadly stupid combo. haha
It will make a great gift exchange.
