They should've never made a 1080 version. Should have just focused on 4k because it's backwards compatible. Also at io they're releasing, well supposed to be releasing a new 4k version.

They should've never made a 1080 version. Should have just focused on 4k because it's backwards compatible. Also at io they're releasing, well supposed to be releasing a new 4k version.

OP- a Blue one is ONLY 4k and it's for 49.99. You should have shown a white one which is HD only.

Got one for the TV in the minivan and have it forced to 720p output to limit the streaming bitrate. Works perfectly with the integrated 4G hotspot so the kids can stream whatever they want and we even get live YouTube TV on roadtrips.

Exactly what I just bought one for. Leaving it in the Navigator for streaming in it. Thanks for the tip on the 720p.

I bought 2 onn $19 boxes (one in 2021 and one in 2023) to save the old TVs in bedroom and garage. Works great.

Old tvs are too laggy.

I upgraded from a very old Chromecast to this one.

Be warned that Google has made YouTube almost unwatchable with ads every 5 minutes. You can sideload on a program called SmartTube that is able to eliminate many of the ads. It even somehow skips the content creator's ads in the actual youtube videos. The browsing sucks compared to the normal YouTube app, but it's worth it to not have commercials every 5 minutes.

For me, this dongle is worth it just for accessing my Plex from a different room without a computer.

Is the FHD version really that bad? Personally I think the GTV UI is far better than Amazon's or Roku's. No hiccups with the 4k version
