This is such a cool thing to see here.
For me it's adding shipping (~$230) and tax (~$80) for a total of $1477 for one. But they're doing a free shipping over $2000 promotion, so two batteries comes out to $2459 or $1229/each. Pretty good price for a 5kwh battery from a reputable solar retailer.
Would you be up for posting a link to an example of "5KW of less convenient auto style Lifepo4 at Amazon for about $800 shipped any day"? Curious to see the options you're thinking of.

Grid Tie are simple inverters that must have grid power to function. No grid = zero PV production.

Hybrid or All-In-One can switch over to battery, depending on their software/hardware. These cost way more than $2k usually.
Don't know where you're getting "way more than $2k usually" for hybrid or all in one units. EG4, Growatt, SRNE and others are all "way under $1k. I purchased an Eco-worthy (rebadged SRNE) 48v, 5,000w for a little over $500 from their ebay store. It's normally $660, but there are periodically 20% off sales. It can be set up to prioritize battery, solar, or grid. I have mine set up to draw from solar/battery until charge level of battery is below 10%. It then automatically switches to grid power. It also automatically switches back to battery/solar when state of charge gets back to a level that you can program.

Where are finding them for mid $30k? I'm only able find them for $49k.
49k is still a smokin deal for an F150 with the efficiency of a Prius, unless you need to tow, which 90% of truck owners dont actually do for more than maybe 50 miles. But 90% of truck owners say they need towing... just part of the culture I guess. Most full size trucks only need to tow obese people from home to the nearest office park. True you can get the capacity like the server racks for a lot less, but the problem is packaging and installation of multiple 12v batteries. If I were in that boat, I would buy 2 24v 200AH batteries and put them in series, as I prefer using thinner and cheaper cables or busbars, instead of stringing 4 12V batteries together, just to get 5kwh. It is going to take up too much room on a DIY rack.
Keep in mind that many intelligent batteries with a BMS cannot be placed in series. If you want a 48 V system, you will likely need to buy 48 V intelligent batteries and place them in parallel.

If it's not rack batteries, you can get much cheaper.
Eco Worthy batteries are cheap and they do have the rated capacity.
From time to time, Ebay will have a 20% off and various vendors will participate including Eco Worthy.
I've gotten their 12v 100a for $200= $160. 4 of these equal $640+tax for 5120wh. Same as the 48v 100a. You can wire these 4 to be 48v.
I've also gotten their 24v 100a for $340 which is $680 for the same 5120wh.
I have mostly all Eco Worthy batteries in my 2 systems.
They have been around for a while so I know i'll get warranty from them.

what are the applications? dc power supplies? ac inverters? i'm curious what 48v circuits are actively used.

It's a great idea i wish we had 48v residential circuits, just curious the commercial applications of this unit
