So I bought the prior year model A80CK (Costco's A80K model) refurb'd from Secondipity for $1,050 about a year ago now and I'm in a room with a decent amount of natural light and it still seems very bright to me. I prefer Sony TVs because of their build quality and I'm very happy with it. The XR 4K upscaling is fantastic too. Just my two cents 🤷

Good deal. Keep your cat away from your TV. Check out various Reddit posts where cats destroyed, chewed on, or scratched OLEDs.

Here's one for example.

If you can get your hands on one. No targets in my area had stock yesterday, I bet most are out of stock nationwide by now

Unless one is a die hard Sony fan, this deal doesn't make sense for a refurb compared to the LG Target deal.

I'll say the same things I said in the thread for MicroCenter's refurbished C3s.

MicroCenter offers an extended warranty that covers screen repair and replacement for standard use AND accidents. It's the 3-year warranty option, and I highly suggest it for these refurbished units. You likely won't need it, but in the case that you do, it's good to have. There are more than a few posts around of people "abusing" this warranty to get things covered that otherwise would typically be up to the store's discretion. Burn-in isn't explicitly covered here, but if you really don't care about integrity and you run into a burn-in issue, feel free to "drop" your TV and make a warranty claim for a new unit.

Also, MicroCenter offers delivery for these units. You can't add it when checking out online, but even if you submit an online order, you can walk into the store and request (paid) delivery. The price for delivery increases for every 20 miles further away the delivery address is

Think it comes out to $1219 for the TV + 3 years of screen protection warranty, and close to $1300 if you're paying for delivery. Pretty slick deal

I got the 77" for $1599 a week and a half ago and it's been great. No issues with my unit so far. I paid for the delivery since renting a truck would've been over half the cost already. There's 30 days to return for full refund (minus delivery fee). In real world use, it feels fairly similar in brightness to my family member's C2.

Sony OLED seems to have a blue tint as I saw from YouTube. Not sure if the a8/a9 owners can comment on that.

So then get one if you can find the OOS unicorn.

I saw the deal and upset I didn't take it. With 3 year warranty + taxes + truck rental, it would have been close $2100 and not sure if it would have been worth the risk.

Dim ass tv. Avoid.
It's dim. But not enough to be avoidable. I LOVE mine. Some of the best upscaling I've seen. Paired with an Apple TV 4K unit.

What would you recommend instead at this price? Leaving aside the C3 at target since that was very YMMV

I cant justify spending that much on a tv with such a major flaw.
Would rather a cheap tv over it

I got the 65" C3 refurbished from Micro Center for $999.99 and been very happy with it.

Had a tiny bit of remorse with the target deal but at the end of the day it's the same TV regardless so I don't care. I also had my dad pick me up one of the 42" C3s for $359 today.

The picture quality is fantastic in 4K HDR but it is DIM if you don't use vivid mode.

The TV looks great but I noticed some bubbles on the center of the screen that you can notice even when the TV is off. Googling it, it seems to be screen delamination. Can't find out if this could get worse with time since it already has this issue right out of the box despite being refurbished. Not sure if there's a way to exchange this for a different TV or if it's only returnable at this point. Really great price otherwise

Is this Sony model really still that much better at upscaling content than the LG C3?

Asking sincerely since I do watch a lot of content on TV like sports. And I think ESPN is always 720p
I've been watching the NBA playoffs on it and compared to the LG A3 48" in our bedroom - it's miles better. That's not a C3 however, but the Sony makes shaky cam 720P NBA games look as good as they can.

It's still better than WebOS. Samsung's smarts are less offensive but also less capable.
