They're not going to replace a circular saw or table saw, as the depth is limited, and they're not going to replace an angle grinder due to lower power and being more a cutting tool than a grinding tool. However, they're a lot faster, easier, and more flexible for most thinner materials. I have a similar tool from a different manufacturer and it's one of my go-to tools for a lot of projects.
This tool is similar to an angle grinder but allows for more controlled cuts.

BTW, BS's decline into complete uselessness continues with them now limiting the inventory search results to 2 stores. You also can't (easily) change the zip code.

I have used the corded one several times cutting metal exhaust pipes. Works very well. Not sure about plastic since it's an abrasive blade, not toothed like a saw.
