It's always been expensive to live in Paradise. But over 20 years I've seen the changes. But, like someone else said, there's plenty of people with LOTS of money willing to bend over and so THAT will be the modus operandi for the time being.
We've started going to Oahu because it's all-around cheaper there (or at least people aren't as greedy). Plus we have a great hook-up with a house rental where we pay cash and get a great rate -- about 1/3 the price of something similar on Kauai.
