Remember, discount tire will price match both Sam's and Costco. Even the free installation. They have the same road hazard protection. Though you have the option to purchase even better protection. Always get it done at discount tire. You'll get better service and incredibly quicker. You'll be done before even Sam's or Costco sees your car.

Also, if you're going to use this deal, you should call your local store and get things scheduled for the weekend of 5/3 - 5/5.

I called and was transferred to a "centralized" tire & battery center representative. She checked my tire size and placed an order for me that I will pay for on my scheduled appointment on 5/3. She made the appointment for me, everything was pretty smooth. Highly recommend that approach.

That's how Sam's is now. They have an overseas call center setting up the appointments. Sometimes you might struggle understanding the person on the other side of the world, but I think it's better than the Tire Center employees never answering the phone at the store.

3/3 visits between two different clubs, every time I came back with damage to my rims & hubcaps. If you care at all about your wheels, it's not worth the small financial savings and awkward waiting area to get tires from Sam's. Ymmv but mine was horrendous the one time I reupped both our cars and went in for a rotation on one of them.

Are you saying the warranty is tied to the email address?

Let's say I bought with a membership tied to email A. That membership expired and I became a born again Sam's member with email B. Is my tire warranty still intact if I just show my receipt?

Looks like they have become smarter now. I called to setup an appointment for May-3rd and they told me that they are not allowed to setup the appointment during the promotional period. I will have to buy online or go to the store during the period, or, call the customer service during the promotional period to avail the promotional price & free install package.

That's unfortunate. Maybe try calling again tomorrow? The person on the phone might have had bad information or they didn't feel like working. Or, like you said, they've gotten sneaky/smart about it.

I was able to order through the cs rep and place my appointment on the 5th. They said I wouldnt be charged anything until I get the tires installed so I just have to talk to them on that day to get the price adjusted for the promo. cheers

I went to Discount Tire to price match the Pirelli P4 Persist AS Plus tires. When they looked them up they said it was a discontinued tire and the rep showed me stock numbers from the distributors and there were 6 left at one distributor that he ordered for me. Turns out when I got home and looked more closely he actually ordered the P7 Cinturato AS Plus (first generation I think) which is a Grand Touring tire instead of the P4's.

Should in theory be an upgrade even though they have 2 newer versions of the P7's. Total out the door was $501.26.

Might be the downgrade longevity wise…the P4 is rated at 85k miles.

Generally I think that means the trade off is comfort and maybe a bit of traction for a harder rubber compound. The P7's are still pretty good at a 70k rating and my wife would prefer the smoother ride if that's the case.
