My 2010 or so Magnifica finally got to the point of no longer worth fixing. During these years,
It had daily use and kept going.
I hope this one will be as good.
I replaced a water pump $20,or so, a couple of years ago. Was an easy install for me.
This time the burr grinder unit finally went out. After a decade+ of abuse by dark roasts, not a surprise. I found one for 170, and could have fixed it, but not worth it on a 14 yr machine I paid 399 for back then.
Anyway my experience has been great with Magnificas.
I bet many of the insides are the same as my old one.
Two things worth mentioning imo:
Machines like these are more noisy than a drip coffee maker or Keurig. But then there are no quiet coffee grinders afaik. If you don't have a bedroom where someone needs to sleep nearby when coffee is made, it is no issue.
Second, depending on water, you have to descale these quite a bit. White vinegar is not as strong as proper descaling solution. However, you can buy 2 gallons for the price of a bottle of descale solution, and it worked fine for the last 8 years on my last Magnifica YMMV, if your water is full of minerals, you may need to stick with the real descaling solution.
There is zero taste residue with white vinegar. I am sure it isn't Manufacturer recommended but worked fine for me and our water.
Last tip. The machine discharges a bit of water as part of the startup and shutdown. If you keep a cup sitting under the spouts when you turn it on and off, or just have one sitting there, you have to clean the drip tray less often.

Only gripe is that it does not have a froth only option.
Tried the Gaggia Classic Pro with a Niche grinder. Could never get it dialed in.

Does anyone know if any plastic part comes into play in end to end process when it makes the Latte?
