Thanks, ordered. I had deal alert for this.

My 2010 or so Magnifica finally got to the point of no longer worth fixing. During these years,
It had daily use and kept going.

I hope this one will be as good.

I replaced a water pump $20,or so, a couple of years ago. Was an easy install for me.
This time the burr grinder unit finally went out. After a decade+ of abuse by dark roasts, not a surprise. I found one for 170, and could have fixed it, but not worth it on a 14 yr machine I paid 399 for back then.

Anyway my experience has been great with Magnificas.
I bet many of the insides are the same as my old one.

Two things worth mentioning imo:

Machines like these are more noisy than a drip coffee maker or Keurig. But then there are no quiet coffee grinders afaik. If you don't have a bedroom where someone needs to sleep nearby when coffee is made, it is no issue.

Second, depending on water, you have to descale these quite a bit. White vinegar is not as strong as proper descaling solution. However, you can buy 2 gallons for the price of a bottle of descale solution, and it worked fine for the last 8 years on my last Magnifica YMMV, if your water is full of minerals, you may need to stick with the real descaling solution.
There is zero taste residue with white vinegar. I am sure it isn't Manufacturer recommended but worked fine for me and our water.

Last tip. The machine discharges a bit of water as part of the startup and shutdown. If you keep a cup sitting under the spouts when you turn it on and off, or just have one sitting there, you have to clean the drip tray less often.

Are you really that complacent? I mean you aren't even asking if anyone here has personally used it. You're asking us to do exactly what you should...go to the item page and look at the reviews or just read the details of the deal where it literally tells you the review rating.

You probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I see that comment as merely a benign conversation starter for this product. Too much policing on this forum these days.

False. I wake up on the right side of the bed every day because it's the closest to the bathroom door.

If you are new to automatics. You can never use oily beans, they will clog and even wreck the machine depending. Do research before buying the beans- and there are plenty of great options. Lavazza Super Crema seems to be popular for people here, no oil.
I thought the same and then someone in the superautomatic subreddit that uses oily beans introduced me to Urnex SuperGrindz. It's cereal grain based grinder cleaner that works really well according to the reviews. I don't use oily beans but I picked some up anyways to clean the grinder every other time I descale since all beans have at least some residue from grinding that will most likely affect taste over time. Also, if I ever want to try oily beans it now shouldn't be an issue.

We do latte extremely rarely.
There is a similar delonghi machine on sale at Costco for a 100 more it has a milk container built in. You can return if it does do them well.

Philips bought the Saeco brand and then produced their own machines.
I owned two Saecos, before my last Magnifica, both were much higher maintenance and each lasted only about 3 years before they were broken and not worth fixing. Philips may have improved the design.
I have a pricey Lavazza Blue LB2317 that was made by Saeco. It was great for two years but went downhill quickly after that and only lasted 4 years despite not even having a grinder (it uses capsules) and still only lasted 4 years. The final year was only due to me taking it apart and fixing a leaky connection that developed between the capsule holder and the spout.

Thanks, going to give it a shot. First espresso machine!

Anyone have any Costco bean recs?
I would suggest you to try some small roasters. Or get a subscription of coffee. Based on locations, most Costcos doesn't carry great(which is subjective) beans. Try local or independent roasters and support small businesses, please.

Does anyone know if I can purchase this from Costco and purchase the auto frother attachment separately?

It seems like they the attachment separately on Amazon for about $70 bringing this to &
$520 (and a Costco lifetime warranty)vs $550 Amazon edition that comes with the auto-froth (30 day warranty).

I also heard the Costco edition has less buttons :-/

I have this machine, but with an auto froth. Extremely easy to use, clean, and maintain. Just have to find the perfect grind and strength combo for your roasted beans and it nails it every time.

Only gripe is that it does not have a froth only option.
I think it does, it's not easy to activate. I remember looking specifically to ensure it at l could do hot milk for got chocolate.

I think you have to hold down one of the buttons instead of a single tap.

Check the manual (not the quick start but the actual manual).

We got this as a black friday deal last year and love it. No need for starbucks or specialty coffee shops unless your on the go or want something more customizable than this machine can put out. Does very well on standard type offerings. Also very easy to clean and descale.

Would highly recommend with the little experience we have. Can't speak to longevity yet.
