When a refurbished drive has low hours it's because the SMART data got reset during the refurbishment process.

They're still great deals. You're getting the remaining useful life on a drive made to run for a long time at high data rates. And, you can buy double the disks vs new ones, so you can setup your backup even easier.
Might as well use the most recently published stats...

https://www.backblaze.com/blog/ba...-for-2023/

TLDR; avoid Seagate 12tb and 14tb. 16tb drives so far look very good (X18). No published data yet on X24.
This should be boilerplate on any Server Part Deals post.

Lots of people have good experience with ServerPartDeals.

My question for this would be - x24 drives are really new. How is it possible that x24 designated models are already being refurbed?

The warranty is through the seller (Server Part Deals) not the manufacturer (Seagate) even though they are "Manufacturer Recertified".

Is it possible to buy an extended warranty via third party? I see that as an option sometimes through some ebay listings but not sure if that would apply here.

maybe they were used, and return.. doubt there are too much actual hours used..

what matter is that they aren't duds

Different model. X20 only has 256mb cache compared to the 512 in OP. Unsure of other differences.

Wow, I just bought 4 of these from ServerPartDeals a week or so ago for $160 each. Great deal imo, I installed them and all four had 4 hours at time of installation.

I bought 2 of the 12tb ones from this company. I've only used one so far. Looked new. Came in an anti static bag and was well packed. I'd like to get a couple of these 16tb drives as well but these deals pop up often.
