When a refurbished drive has low hours it's because the SMART data got reset during the refurbishment process.
They're still great deals. You're getting the remaining useful life on a drive made to run for a long time at high data rates. And, you can buy double the disks vs new ones, so you can setup your backup even easier.

That's not always the case, both SPD and GHD guarantee that they never get reset. Plus, these were probably manufactured in 2024 (X24) so they couldn't possibly have too much time on them
My question for this would be - x24 drives are really new. How is it possible that x24 designated models are already being refurbed?
Doing a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation: 1 minute of 4k "RAW" footage takes up at least 10GB; major films can easily record over 100 hours of footage; So, just having ONE copy of these files would take a minimum of 60TB. Given the fact now movies are shot at 8K (so 4 times the number of pixels), they will probably keep at least three copies as they are filming, and probably need to send multiple copies to various editing and special effects studios... It isn't unreasonable to think that a project would use dozens of these drives.
Where are the NAS deals for 4-bay with a n95 or N5095? My current NAS from 2020 uses a j4125.
I do want to buy refurbished as the SPD pricing is very tempting, however, I can't justify it without a new NAS and use the current as off-site backup

I bought a certified refurb 16TB from them a while back and have had no issues. They do make loud clicking and grinding noises initially, but it's error free and passed all performance tests.

And the X20 were released in 2021. So it's still wrong.
