I'd still be spending less by buying two of these than a single Weber
I have this same grill- and have had it for years. Love it! Easy to clean and never had an issue. I wouldn't hesitate at all- especially at this price!
Basically a Nexgrill with the kitchenaid logo on it.

From my personal experience (and I'm in the Chicago area so snow/wet winters, humid summers, thus higher rates of rust....)

I have (had, as its going to the curb for the junkman) the 4 burner version of this that Costco used to carry w/ the side searing (5th) burner. Converted to natural gas. Kept it covered for the most part when not using it. The burners lasted 3 seasons. Same for the heat shields over the burners (called Flame Tamers by Nexgrill). Same for the brackets that hold the burners and heat shields. The body of the grill is basically rusted out after 6 years (i.e. holes on the sides of the actual grill body from rusting out). The bottom of the cabinet is also rusted out. The temp gauge stopped working after a couple years.

As others on this thread mentioned, the Kitchen Aid label is basically a rebrand. The company is Nexgrill Industries. The warranty they provide is effectively useless because of the exorbitant shipping and handling costs for their parts (their warranty = you as the user pay the shipping costs) and what they do and don't cover. When I tried to make a claim, they would cover burners only under the warranty period, but the cost of shipping them was more $ than what I could buy new parts w/ shipping included through amazon. They don't cover things like the flame tamers or brackets under their warranty.

That all being said, I'm in for one here... $249 seems like good value if I can get 5-6 years out of it w/ only a one time burner/heat shield replacement.

How does this compare to this Nexgrill model?

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

I'm in Texas so it will be covered outside. I'm just looking for something to do some basic grilling and would be happy for it to last 3-5 years.

like what? I think you're thinking the stainless surface is the burner? it isn't, it's covering the burner, you lift it and it should flip back

Not really. Since the Weber will heat up it's grates more evenly, you can use almost all of the surface area to grill your food. This allows you to buy a smaller Weber. My parents used to have a large 4 burner Nexgrill and I had a 2 burner version branded as a KitchenAid just like this one. On either, you could only really cook one steak per burner because the rest of the grate was too cold. My parents bought a Weber Spirit last year and on that, you can cook as many as you can fit. I will only be buying Webers from now on. Learned my lesson. You'll also be able to get parts indefinitely and the housing will not rot out. My 4 year old KitchenAid was completely rusted through last year when I was moving, to the point that I couldn't even keep it together to move.

I don't even know how to respond. Whatever floats your boat, but that's probably the dumbest comment I've ever read on this site
