The plan is worth $15/mo to me (that's what I pay for my 5gb plan - I would never use a 30gb plan. May be worth more for others), so that makes the phone $520, which is great for a p8p.
I see the only major risk is if they downgrade service or go out of business in under a year, and you are stuck buying a more expensive plan.
Tip: If you go with this, pay with a credit card like AMEX that gives a second year of warranty free. That's a better value than an extra 1-2% cash back.
I took this as an opportunity to see how good their support was.
- No phone number or email on their website.
- After waiting about 40 minutes for a human, the chat broke.
- They have a nice AI bot that gave me the wrong answer.
Chat thread below:
Our partner service is experiencing an interruption in Miami and they are working to fix it. You can still connect to Wi-Fi and any Helium Mobile Hotspots in your area.

I have a Different Question
Ok no problem, what's on your mind?
Pre sales question on the Pixel 8 Pro deal here: https://hellohelium.com/pixel8pro
I noticed in the tech specs of that page, it says the phone has a 6.2 inch screen. That is the screen for the P8, not the P8Pro, which has a 6.7 inch screen.
I wanted to verify that the phone is indeed a Pixel 8 Pro and not a Pixel 8.
The Pixel 8 Pro deal indeed includes a Pixel 8 Pro and not just a Pixel 8. The deal specifies that it comes with 12 months of free Helium Mobile service, an exclusive subscriber badge, and mentions the Pixel 8 Pro's tech specs, such as its dimensions, weight, and the contents of the box. Additionally, the promotion highlights premium features of the Pixel 8 Pro, like a larger display, clearer photos, and pro-level specs, which distinguish it from the standard Pixel 8 model.

Sure thing, you will be transferred to the next available agent.
The team will reply as soon as they can.
The link provided by the AI bot says "6.2-inch OLED Display" - which is indicative of a Pixel 8, not a Pixel 8 pro. Just wanted to verify.

My T-Mobile is like 110$/mo just for me and they screwed me over 12+ years ago our of my grandfathered data plan from the G1 (first android phone) by saying when I stopped my phone while being sent in for repair and the starting it again when it was returned constituted a new plan and therefore grandfather gone. I was livid but they are the best premium supplier in my area and I have never had an issue with calls, they have always either helped or tried to help when I call, and occasionally I call just to check that there is no competing plan that is better which they can switch me to for free and no penalty. Mind you, that cost is also me owning my own phone as I buy a new Google phone every year but skipped the 8Pro.
And while this is super tempting to have a phone cost me 640$ vs 1300$+ a year but it comes with Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Paramount free. Tons of scam blocking software that works really well and visual voicemail where it texts and/or emails me a transcript of the call. That mixed with the Google call screening that Pixels do and I haven't got a spam/robocall for years.
And I still argue the pure android experience is the best experience for those who know how to use phones already and there's an app for everything and most likely there's a free one that does the same thing. It is centralized unlike Apple unless you want to use all Google apps and products. I use Google 1, Gmail (like everybody), but also YouTube Music sub which means I haven't seen an ad on YT for a decade, Google Workspace for a VR development company, and it works great if you have the Google ecosystem in your home. There are always better and more expensive options and there's always easier and cheaper ones like Alexa but if you're heavy into automation, it works just fine and plays well with home automation and anything higher as well and the hardware is solid.
Now so it doesn't sound like I'm Just fellating them for my amusement, they tend to kill and consolidate programs and benefits even. I'm losing the free VPN that you get with pixels as it's also offered on computers. Until recently when they decided to kill it because they say not enough people are using it. Even though I am everyday as a backup vpn. So I'm shit out of luck on that. Google music and Google podcasts we're actually great apps and they've been rolled into YouTube music which is not as good as it could be. More of just not very streamlined for getting to things. I guess Android auto is nice so that belongs up above especially since you can replace any car head unit with an Android head unit for 150 bucks and basically have a running free GPS in your car and stereo. Unfortunately the same thing sometimes happens with their Hardware like the nest home stuff for alarms and what not have been just discontinued and unsupported. They don't really have a unified approach to their products which I guess is okay in some aspects but it sucks at others. However this is all kind of a massive overview of Google and not really just the phone.
I can tell you, phone's good. All of their phones are good. Are there phones with other options you might prefer? Sure are there other ones that have different ways of doing the same thing? Sure are there ones that have green bubbles or whatever? Sure. But I'd argue that nobody has the AI that Google does and if you're a nerd and you like having control over every aspect of your phone, pixel is something to look at. It's the difference between running a Mac and running Linux in terms of control.
EDIT: Oh! and you can use this as a trade in for the 9 Pro when it comes out this year which actually makes this a pretty awesome and finally SLICK deal if you 1) arent committed to a provider and 2) know you plan to go up to the 9 Pro. Only variable is the value of the trade in as I don't know what size storage is with this offer but assume 128gb as it is the lowest.
