Decent deal but the same thing is $100 at home depot... Not $150 as woot would like you to believe.

All the comments are true about the great usefulness of this tool. But the price is too high. Not worth $80. Wait for the 50% battery bundle deal.

Probably doesn't produce enough heat to require oil. The battery is small, so it isn't meant to be left on long. And it's probably not that strong.
I have the brushless version and it does a bang up job on small trees...the largest one was at least 6 inches across.

Very happy with mine!

I was just about to leave this same comment. I bought a Merecee 4" chain saw for about $20 or $25 18 months or so ago and there is no project it can't do. For example when a 30' high pine tree about 10" thick fell on my land — with a little persistence —I was able to strip off most of the larger branches and then cut the trunk into manageable pieces that I could haul off into the woods by myself using that 4" saw.
Got a link to the one you bought? Looking for one for my parents to use around their small garden

The DeWalt version has an oil reservoir. I would store a condiment bottle of bar oil with this ryobi tool if I owned it.

I own the brushless Ryobi top handle xp prunning saw and it's an amazingly good one-handed saw with loads of power and great balance (and an adjustable oiler).

I didn't realize you could buy Ryobi at Amazon now. I thought it was exclusive to Home Depot?

Brushless version is $99 on Amazon right now. Probably worth the extra $20.

I would go with the brushless version rather than this one, more powerful and quieter

Wait for a deal on the brushless. I used this over the weekend to break down branches I pruned off a couple trees I dropped with the gas chainsaw. Made quick work to process them to burn barrel size. Totally worth it.

There's $30 rebate from masssave until Dec 2024 for MA residents.
Both 6" and 8" brushless are $150
Is it worth to get 8" instead ? But heavier

i own this device. it came as an add on in a package deal back many months ago. it surprised me at how good it is and how useful it has become. i had low expectations - but it is a very good tool and i would definitely recommend it - especially if u have a high performance ryobi battery pack.

I find this very useful. First it doesnt have oil, so you can be using it immediately. Its great for cutting off tree and large shrub limbs. Finally, it saves so much time chopping up the pieces to put into your yard trash bin. I used to use a lopper and this is so much faster. Highly recommended over a reciprocating saw. The only time I use a receiprocating saw these days is to cut near or into soil, where a chain would dull instantly in dirt. The one downside is that it uses a Ryobi 6" chain only. There is a new version that is 8" that uses a standard chain.

Ryobi only guarantees stuff bought from the approved stores, & so no guarantee on Woot or Amazon purchases of Ryobi stuff.
