Because it's a lot easier to press a button that's in a better placement than having to twist yourself to see the buttons on the side and bang your elbow while trying to press them. And it gets ore difficult as you get older. The placement is so much easier to reach.

Bought one for my wife. Was between this and the Brondell Swash Thinline CL2200 Bidet Toilet Seat that's $300 at Costco. However, this one seemed to have marginally better reviews and some higer brand recognition.
