According to Sony and their 2024 flagship TV the Bravia 9, Micro LED with an increased density and control of the backlight is the future until the next display technologies (PHOLED, QDEL, etc) hit the market.
MicroLED is also not getting cheap anytime soon. OLED is going to be the affordable option for the foreseeable future.

Personally I really prefer coding on OLED.

Nothing beats actual pure black background, compared to blacklight bleed (even VA has some), for really nice contrasty text, and being able to overall reduce how much light is getting shined in your face all day by your monitors by not NEEDING your monitor to be so bright to still see everything clearly.

I mean, if you're one of those people who code in light mode on a white background I guess I can see where it's all kind of the same?
I can't code on OLED. I have the AW3423DW monitor, and my eyes would burn after a few hours in. Meanwhile my Ultrasharp panel gives me no issues whatsoever.

This or a 4k 144 hz nonOLED? I have a 4080 but can't decide which one to go with
Depend on the exact model… if you are seeking the 43 G7, I'll say run away from it.

I use a pretty muted color scheme, combined with not having my screen set overly bright (HDR True Black mode), windows SDR in HDR brightness set relatively lower as well (around 25), and it works well for me. No full white anything in VSCode, etc. But anything that personally feels hard on the eyes is definitely to be avoided, and I do really get how one monitor that's great for one person can come out feeling terrible for someone else.

The subpixel layout on the AW3423DW/DWF probably isn't optimal either, and a 32" 4k screen with some scaling (125 to 150) would likely be better on the eyes for extended text use. I had to play with the sharpness/etc settings on mine to get text looking good. OLEDs are still on the expensive side to take sight unseen gambles on, though.

I recommend getting a lg c2 or c3 42 inch. It's a great option also oled and 4k c2 sometimes can be had for around this price.
