I didn't know if the Studio software contains/contained legitimate malware, but the overall security profile was enough to convince our security team to keep their printer off our network and not install the app on any network-connected PCs.

(all my printers are BL printers so i've been watching pricing, waiting on an bigger size printer or an X2C though)
The current TH board I'm waiting on they shipped to the Netherlands. I'm in the US. No idea what is happening there. But right now it's a giant paperweight as I wait for another TH board.
I'm sure the majority of their printers are flawless, but if you're like me and end up with a dud, it's an absolute miserable experience dealing with Bambu CS.
I've heard *almost* nothing but good about the Bamboo Labs printers both from those who have them and via the web. The only drawback that I see (and this is why we don't use them at work) is they have a slicer that reports to outside servers (presumably in China?). Company security doesn't allow that type of software. Even for personal use I would prefer a system that doesn't require web access in the event that server support goes away in the future (a problem that has disabled other software/hardware).

Slice the files and put them on a micro SD card and print from the interface.

Personally I'd go with a company that's controlling and keeping things tight for their machines. But I've been there, started with Creality back in the day and initially liked the tinkering/learning, then rather quickly hated the hobby of getting the printers happy and not actually working on my other projects.
Best of luck though, hope it all works out for ya.
He ended up "gambling" on the A1. He has absolutely loved it, and has sharpened a lot of skills with software he never thought he'd get into (some CAD, some 3D editing, etc) and is very, very happy with his purchase. His retired friends come to see what he's made.

1) Of course the sovol 08 is open source. The entire design is open source and has been for years. It isn't a marketing gimmick or whatever you're trying to say here
2) you criticize Sovol for "relying on the community" by using open source projects but that is literally what Bambu does. Reskinning prusa/orca slicer, swiping klipper and then locking it all down as "proprietary". At least sovol doesn't steal other people's work and pass it off as their own.
