However, my Colgate Total stannous fluoride toothpaste lists the following under "Other information":

● products containing stannous fluoride may produce surface staining of the teeth. Adequate toothbrushing may prevent these stains which are not harmful or permanent and may be removed by your dentist.
● this Colgate product is specifically formulated to help prevent staining.

So take that warning and mollification as you will.

Ah, yes..I am aware of the staining issue from using stannous fluoride. But according to my research, Crest and Colgate have reformulated their stannous fluoride to prevent staining since 2002. But I guess you can use both versions. I personally use Colgate Total or Crest Pro-Health Gum Detoxify in the morning and I use Apagard (Japanese imported) with Hydroxyapatite before bed for restoration. "Hydroxyapatite is naturally restorative and effective in reducing your risk for tooth decay, cavities, and enamel erosion. As it is naturally occurring, hydroxyapatite can safely replenish your enamel to rebuild and strengthen your smile."
I have one tooth that was extremely sensitive due to gum recession at that site. After using Apagard for a month or so, the sensitivity is gone! It works much better than Sensodyne. But it's expensive...about $28 for two tubes. It's still worth it because they last a long time. If you have kids, I would highly recommend toothpaste with Hydroxyapatite as the active ingredient because it's natural and non-toxic.

10 minutes after, I got an email from CVS saying, "your order was canceled".
Looks like CVS is walking on the path of Walgreens.
