If you're just getting into fishing or needing a reel for a saltwater trip- these will make you tired pretty quickly. They're way too big for doing basic fishing.
It's a great deal for what they are- just know, a 3000 or 4000 will be plenty big enough for the vast majority of individuals.

I have two of these. One in 5000 and one in 6000. Both are for the surf. Awesome reels. Caught some huge clownose and small - medium sharks. Make sure you have a rod to pair with it.

Since the 10,000 is actually a $1 less…do you think it would make sense to just go for the 10,000 for crab snaring?
I recently started last year and currently have a 6000 size reel…but looking to put together a second setup.
I think the 8000 is plenty. It's a hefty reel at 27oz. The 10,000 is 38oz. Those crab snares are minimum 8oz and those crabs are heavy to pull in as well. Crab snaring is a lot of fun, but it gets tiring!

Yay a fishing thread! I'm trying to learn freshwater fishing and have some cheap gear but what would you guys recommend for freshwater shore fishing with lures for bass/trout/panfish? Can't seem to cast very far with the stuff I have.
10,000 is a monster / heavy reel ....8000 has good capacity for the size ....I fish from shore for sharks / tarpon all year .... many fish 80-200 lbers ..... these reels take a beating ....

These reels go from 1000-10000 in 1000 increments. Starting at 6000 in the range is pretty big.
