Someone said earlier Google voice number aren't accepted
It accepted my Google voice number. You just have to pay the $3 fee to Google to unlock it so you can Port it out. It took almost a full day for the port to complete.

Anyone able to port out of OOMA. I have it since 15+ years now and it was totally free on their old device, which finally died. Any new device now has the minimum landline charges so I thought I will try to port it.
Oh, I'm still on my "Premier, Lifetime" subscription on my ooma since 2009. Mine died awhile ago also, and I realize the power supply was the culprit. I replaced it and it is working fine again. Maybe you could try that if you want to save your ooma.

Best travel phone out there, people talk about 5g like that stuff is a difference. It's a phone dude lol. I'm not mining crypto, just watching videos.
Wife has 5G phone I don't. She has better coverage in spotty areas due to it. Why not get all the bands you can on a phone to improve coverage map?

Can anyone tell me how to do this - I am already a Total Wireless customer in desperate need
Of 2 new phones asap.. but bc I am, these
Are showing up as 199.99$ for me 😢
You won't be able to take advantage of this since it requires porting a phone number from outside of the Verizon family (and MVNOs).

I'd suggest looking over at the Metro thread for deals since those require porting a phone number from outside of T-Mobile family, which you would be eligible for.

He has a screen that works in 2 halves with a band across the middle so not upgradable
We have a family plan with Verizon, could I buy this, port his number over, use it for a while then upgrade him back onto the family plan?
Since the phone number is already on the Verizon network, you wouldn't be able to take advantage of this deal. Typically a phone number has to be off the network for 6 months to be eligible for new porting-in deals. You could have him go to Metro for 6 months and then come back. But Metro phones need 1 year to unlock now.

Option A (let the new phone sit 2mo until it unlocks if your son can keep using old phone)
- get a new google voice number for free
- use that to order $50 iP11 + $50 plan = $100+taxes
- pay $3 to unlock GV number for porting if your Total order ships out
- complete activation and port GV number over
- don't pay for 2nd month service
- let the phone sit for 60 days from activation until it unlocks and then use the phone on your son's VZ line

Option B (if he needs to use the new phone right now)
- use a GV number just to order the phone + plan (don't pay $3 for unlock since you won't port that number)
- wait for the order to come in the mail
- port your son's VZ number over to Tello (TMo) $5 plan in the evening and let it sit overnight
- in the morning port the number again from Tello (TMo) to Total (VZ)
- pay for 2nd month (there might be a referral rewards promo for enough points to get 3rd month free so you might have to find someone that actually uses the service)
- after the phone is unlocked then you can port back to your VZ plan

Unlock your son's old phone and if it supports eSIM then you can use eSIM on Tello for free -- otherwise order a $2 Tello sim kit:
https://www.amazon.com/Tello-Mobi...08H5SM9M9/

Direct port from VZ to Total might not happen correctly and it might mess with the 60 day unlock so go through Tello -- porting back to VZ in 2-3mo you can try it directly otherwise go through Tello again

If you want a spare phone then you might as well get 2 of them -- first one is $100 ($50 phone/$50 plan) but the 2nd one will be $80 ($50 phone/$30 discounted plan) -- let that 2nd phone unlock in 60 days and you can use GV number for porting/activation

The iPhone 11 is very old at this point, I wouldn't recommend anything older than the iPhone 12.

I had an iPhone 11 up until 2023 and the main issue was that the chip would get crazy hot. Battery was also affected by that
Thanks for the heads up... I had already bought myself an iPhone SE3 when they went on sale for $100 this past Black Friday. Would that be more preferable compared to the iPhone 11 considering it has an A15 Bionic chip in it?

I concur. I've used a few GVoice #'s to take advantage of these types of deals that require port forwarding in order to get a discount.

I'd choose the 11 over the SE3 any day just for the Face ID and 6.1" screen. I have an SE3 as a backup device when I'm playing games on my 15PM. The screen is too small to type on. Browser windows are cramped and difficult to navigate. I picked up the SE3 for $149 when I needed a phone. Now that I have a 15PM I can't go back to that tiny screen. The lack of 5G isn't an issue in my area, and the older chip was working fine the last time I had an 11 but a tad laggy and showing its age. But its a good backup device with a sim tray.

Agree, SE3 is great for phone calls, but smaller bezels & larger screen make 11 much easier to use - at this price it's a decent deal.

I read the posts and the unlock policy. Still confused with unlock policy.

Is this understanding correct?

* Buy the phone for $50 with first month plan of $50.
* Don't pay for the 2nd month.
* It will get automatically unlocked after 60 days of activation to be used on any other carrier.

I actually had the iPhone 11 and the SE3 side by side and had to make the same decision. I ended up going for the SE, as it's sooo much faster. iPhone 11 has a bigger display, but it's not OLED. Personally what I noticed was that I was able to get things done faster on the SE

Nope, big display is no good with slow chip
