The tracfone plan alone is worth $120-180ish if you are a low-data user like I am (2GB/mo is enough for me), making the phone itself almost free.
Phone unlocks in 60 days (Tracfone is Verizon)
SD card capable, so no issues with storing everything you need.
It has a 3.5mm jack! Unheard of!
Plastic, but you put your phone in a plastic case anyway, so who cares.
It's a capable mid-low range phone. You won't game or do heavy processing on it, but fine for maps, social media, photos, video (if nothing is moving too fast), email, calls, etc... It benchmarks at close to twice the speed of my Pixel 5a, which runs Android 14 like a champ. My wife has an a34 (related phone) that performs just fine.
They are advertising 4 Android upgrades and security updates through December 2028, which is spectacular for a phone at this price. However, I have my doubts about how capable it will be when running Android 18.
I'm sure there will be posts saying how slow it is or the features it doesn't have, but at this price, it's pretty good. Yeah, it's not a flagship, or even one step down from flagship, but it's decent.
Verizon only requires activation (first month of payment), and the phone auto-unlocks 60 days after the activation date. No second or third month of service is required to SIM unlock.

I have a BLU tracfone. I bought it for one purpose, as a GPS tracker - to hang around my son's neck so I can find him if he gets away from me. Its not good for much else.
Having used the BLU phone, it's complete garbage-slow, bordering on unusable.
And remember, even if your expiration date may be months out, adding this phone to your plan should add a year to that date.

Great phone otherwise, but most want 5G when upgrading to a new phone. For those who don't want 5G and/or prefer Apple, it's a solid deal.
