Is this still a $700 driver or is this a $300 in 2024 at most stores? I can't find it at pga superstore or carls golf.

12 degrees of loft is a lot. The available loft and shaft choices fit players with slower swing speeds. If you have a faster swing speed, check out the Cobra LTDx driver for $249. It was considered one of the best drivers in 2022.

Agree here that 12 degrees of loft is going to lose you a lot of distance. Most drivers are 9-10.5

For slower swing speeds it will probably add distance

How does this compare to a Mizuno ST-Z?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

These star's are senior clubs, hence the high loft and high flex options. I love the color scheme, but again.. geared toward senior golfers.

This generalization and lack of context is unhelpful.

You can buy garbage, mediocre or quality items from eBay.

It has nothing to do with eBay.sorry you bought garbage.

To add context, I bought a new iron set and new putter from this same ebay store over the years. I never had a problem and they always shipped fast.

For this driver in particular, it fit the bill for me as I have a slower swing speed (about 85-90 MPH). I ordered a regular flex 10.5 driver about 2 weeks ago. It feels much lighter than any of my old drivers (Bridgestone JGR Tour B & Callaway BB Fusion FT-3) and my swing feels faster. I hit a couple longer feeling drives last time I played. It felt & sounded great (if you like Callaway drivers). Sorry, I haven't measured any distance. I do notice I close the face more so I set the driver to fade. It helped counter my hook to a straighter shot. Still getting used to it. Hope this helps.

This driver is made for older people with slow swing speeds. That's the purpose of the Callaway star series. The loft will help people with slow swing speeds and all the work put into making the club super light will help speed up the swing speed a bit.

Some other sites I highly recommend if you're looking for excellent prices on drivers and clubs. They pretty much all either have a sale or 10-20% coupon available rotating weeks:

rockbottomgolf.com

Callawaygolfpreowned.com

maplehillgolf.com

And globalgolf.com

I don't play much golf anymore, but a golf pro called Rick Shiels has an interesting YouTube channel and he thinks that the Kirkland brand clubs from Costco are pretty amazing for the price. He just tested a driver a couple of days ago that is $200 that he suspects is made by Callaway. They are getting sued by Taylormade for their irons so they must be pretty decent. Plus you get to beat your friends with $1k Costco clubs when they spent $4k on their set.

Buying a new driver, or any new clubs, is not a magic fix and won't make any difference if your swing still sucks.

When you can hit your current driver, or irons, really well and need something to get even better, then get fitted and get some new ones.

Otherwise, you're wasting your money or trying to be 'cool' with the latest stuff.
