Maybe better than nothing, but really you need like a FHD or 2k cam to read a license plate. 720p is going to be pretty blurry. Maybe useful if someone hits you and then sticks around, and you have all the information you need and this is just a blurry capture of the event that proves things, but man you're going to make the cops/insurance co squint.

Reviews are iffy at best.
You want reliability when it comes to a dashcam.
If you plan to use those for some DIY project that's not super important though it's dirt cheap

I got it in the previous time it was posted. Hum... $5 bucks... it does turn on and record but the angle is super limited. And the power cable makes a mess because is super long.

I think license plate-reading resolution is overrated. It's more important, in my opinion, to be able to show who was at fault in a situation where everyone is identified. People that hit and run often have bad or no plates anyways.

Bought them and returned them, biggest drawback to these is 120 degree field of view, my older dash cams are 170 degree and the difference is very noticeable.
