I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

Any tax benefits while filing 2024 tax?

For those comparing with the Tesla deal, it seems the stated polestar price includes the acquisition fee where on the Tesla, they add it after the fact.

According to online chat, the Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive does not include the 7500 federal credit. I think I have to ask polestar directly instead of the online chat person.

Edit: Asked the CSR to double check and "We do not offer federal tax credits.". So I guess the 10k is essentially a substitute.
I meant to say that $7500 of the $10k rebate comes from govt EV rebates (using the leasing loophole which dealers can use). Polestar is reducing the price of the car by $10k, but gets $7500 from the federal govt, so in effect they're only "spending" $2500 from their own pocket.

How'd you get it in Chicago - seemed nearest dealer was in Detroit? Maybe moot for chicago folks, but perhaps useful for others who couldn't find inventory in their state

Yeah, I think a big part of that is Volvo's substantial headstart over Tesla in the carbuilding world. No shade to Tesla, they've done a lot in a short period of time. In fact, I'm just surprised it's taken everyone else so long to even attempt to catch up…
Check out BYD. There is a reason US government is trying hard to block this brand. Tesla is living under the shadow of BYD in most part of world except for North America. and, a lot of Teslas are equipped with BYD batteries. In fact, Even with BYD selling zero cars in North America market, BYD and Tesla have been in a tie, handover each other the crown every other few months.
And with the reverse of green energy policy in EU, that's just handing over the command to Chinese EV car maker.

If you change it from 10,000 miles to 7,500 it drops it from 299 to 278!
That's awesome! I drive so little that my current car has 23k miles in 5 years :-D

Also check if you get free super charging for a year or so and factor that into the cost. My car (other brand) came with 1 year free super charging.

Why is no one talking about the recharging of this vehicle. Do I need to buy solar panels?Do I need to have solar panels from my home already? if it is direct home plug in, how much is the cost for charging this? where I do charge it? This is a worrying factor for me... someone address this, thanks.

There are so many resources online about charging. Cheapest option generally is to plug into your outlet at home and let it charge (very) slowly overnight.

The DC Fast Chargers you find outside (like EVGo, Electrify America, etc) are options too, but they tend to get expensive.

I called and they only mentioned Costco 2k off. Was unable to get $299 with 1k down. I live in Texas and will have to pay taxes on full value of the car up front with a lease(~5k). If someone in Texas are able to get this deal, please PM how you got it. TIA
Not the same car, but I got a lease on a KIA EV6 AWD GT-Line about 2 months ago at University KIA in Waco, TX for $599 a month, 24 months, 20k miles and $0 down (includes tax, title, fees). Its MSRP is around $59k and it was a great deal back then compared to what all the local Austin dealers were offering at that time. All the local Austin dealers wanted tax, title, fees at the time of lease signing (about $4.5k) or bump the lease to $800 per month which made no sense. You can probably replicate the deal I got now for less than $500 a month since the EV prices have gone down further. I owned a Model 3 and a Model Y before and can say the EV6 is a much nicer car except a little lacking in tech which the Apple car play on the huge screens more than makes up. I really dont care for supercharging as I always charge at home and use our other gas car for those occasional long drives.

Its sad that you cant replicate most of these awesome EV deals in TX since full sales tax and fees are due at the time of lease signing.

The Polestar does not come with free charging anymore (as far as I'm aware). Used to until about 2 years ago.

Lol. Move the goalposts much? Your original post said they're going bankrupt soon.

Now, in 5 years they may have some concerns? Seems like a HUGE problem for people doing a 27 month lease, as this deal is for.

But sure, you must be some "EV investing" guru.

People, Polestar isn't going anywhere. It's a nice car. If it works for you, don't listen to people like this guy.
"They're doing just fine."

This is literally what you said.

Then when presented with facts, because you clearly don't understand the financials of the company, you resorted back to talking about the lease.

I still stand by what I said. Polestar will go bankrupt very soon.

As for being an EV guru, I just follow the space more than any average person would because I have a huge investment in this space.

Anyone who thinks Polestar will survive in the future are going to be very disappointed. Even Polestar buyers are nervous and won't touch it because they're worried it would go bankrupt and with that, their service centers would be removed and no more OTA updates.
