I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

This deal is terrible. Only 10,000 miles/year allowed. After that its $0.25/mile. Going to pass.

Can you only get these serviced at polestar dealers or can I do it at my local Volvo? Closest polestar is ~450mi away but there's a Volvo dealer a couple miles down the road. I've seen a polestar or two there before, but the polestar site makes it seem like I can only service at polestar.
My understanding was it depends. See if your Volvo dealership is "Polestar Certified". Sounds like a lot of them are mad about Polestar cannibalizing Volvo EV sales and want no part of it.

I don't understand how to get those numbers. From what the dealer tells me, the $2000 gets reduced from the MSRP (lower monthly payments) but the fees are $2,537. How is OP getting $1,200??

This is very competitive with the model 3. The build quality and NVH is much much better, tech is a bit worse. The Plus and Pilot packages are must-haves and are both 'included' in the base model 3 DMLR.
In an EV, I guess tech is the most important aspect. Just my $0.02

So seriously, if you just want to try out an EV and aren't really sure about it then a lease is arguably a good deal with EVs because the tech keeps improving/maybe you want to use the Tesla network without an adapter/they're depreciating like crazy plus the fed tax credit gets applied to ineligible vehicles in most cases and you'll likely beat depreciation if you see yourself selling it in a couple of years. The other route is if you're all in on EVs intending to keep it and drive a ton, an early lease buy out can save you that $7500 fed rebate that you wouldn't have received by financing. I'd never even considered a lease in my life because they're ordinarily such a bad deal, but we did this on my wife's GV70 a couple months ago and saved about $6500 vs. paying cash.

"They're doing just fine."

This is literally what you said.

Then when presented with facts, because you clearly don't understand the financials of the company, you resorted back to talking about the lease.

I still stand by what I said. Polestar will go bankrupt very soon.

As for being an EV guru, I just follow the space more than any average person would because I have a huge investment in this space.

Anyone who thinks Polestar will survive in the future are going to be very disappointed. Even Polestar buyers are nervous and won't touch it because they're worried it would go bankrupt and with that, their service centers would be removed and no more OTA updates.
Lol. You are too much. This post is about a lease. You said "polestar is going bankrupt soon" then said "5 years there may be trouble" and are now back to "bankrupt soon" and complaining that I'm pivoting to talk about a lease, which, again, is what this entire post is about.

Go troll somewhere else. You have no clue what you're talking about and are just spreading garbage info. I'm done with this stupidness.

With EVs lease is the way to go OR buy used with low miles. Tech is changing rapidly, treat them like you would a new Iphone, that's the best way to understand EVs.
What do you think about the new equinox EV 1LT coming out later this year at $34,999 all in, with a 319 mile range?

Worth new price? I'm considering it

Good point. In reading the certificate, it doesn't state exactly how the $2k is applied. Just says it's an "incentive"

Just reached out to my local dealer on this and the license and dealer fees turn the $1000 down into $8000 down. I expected SOME difference, but that's quite a bait and switch... Wow

Just got off the phone with the sales manager for manhattan. 27 month lease, 10,000 miles per year, $299 per month and $2,581.38 due at signing (this includes the Costco promo discount and all taxes fees etc necessary for the state of Delaware). They would like a $500 fully refundable deposit that would then apply to the amount due at signing, so at signing we'd only owe $2,081.38. We could either pick the car up for free, or work with a transport service to have it delivered (I am waiting on what that price would be). Priced out with insurance and I'm getting a rough insurance price of $115 per month.

On one hand, absolutely on paper a great deal. Especially since it's likely eligible for the $7500 tax rebate. A year ago I heard it described as a "game changer". On the other, the trims ramp up in price rapidly (I think it jumps like 10K for just the trim with leather seats), Chevy bungled the Blazer launch with a buggy stop sale trainwreck, and IMHO it's not the best looking SUV in the world.

Not directly related, but I recently talked to another dealer. Apparently, you only need to hold the lease for 3 months to qualify for federal ev credit (for cars that don't qualify directly via outright purchase). Maybe ask your dealer if that also applies here if you want to get out of the lease quickly and convert it into a loan or buyout.

Also for people in Oregon (and probably some other states that offer state incentives), the Oregon incentive is based on "original MSRP", which ignores any discounts... Which means the long range dual motor version won't qualify in any way. I've no idea if there's a way to bypass that.
