I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

I would buy it right now if they let me buy it online...oh no, a representative will contact you. No Thanks, I don't want to deal with car sales people. This is why Tesla still thrives despite Elon Musk being a total asshat, they got the sales model figured out.

Tesla promoters are frogs of pond who are happy with wet mud around. I been to China and drove NIO and saw other evs, Tesla Y and 3 are for those frogs or shareholders. Between I have owned Tesla with fsd for 2yrs and switched.

Lie, I bought online completely but pickup has to be done as any other. I may even ask to be delivered

Just rented one of these and really liked it. Better driving experience than the Tesla model 3s and Ys I've driven, and better than a Kia ev6 and Subaru solterra, though it's a sedan more like the 3.

Not the most competitive lease deal we've seen but for this quality of car it's probably the best.

Spoke with the manager in my local polestar dealer.

Basically you can configure any polestar 2 whichever way you want.

You have to pay taxes and fees. 2k will come out of down payment.

Basically you can put 2k down (that will go to 0 with the Costco certificate) and you're basically paying just taxes and fees.

Here in Texas I'm looking at around 4.5-5.5k out of pocket with a monthly payment of 299-315 for 27 months and 12k miles.

But you are free to edit the months and miles and change the configuration.

I think most of the "savings" are coming from the 10K incentive they have going on.

One more dumb question. The two nearest dealers/service center are 450 miles away which would essentially eat up the monthly mileage allotment for any service. So I called the local Volvo dealer and they don't service Polestars and she didn't think they would ever do it. She did mention they will pick up the car for service which I saw on the website but she seemed to indicate they would travel the 450 miles to pick it up. That seemed kind of hard to believe but assuming they do is it picked up by driver and driven or for that distance would they load it on truck hauler? I can't believe there wouldn't be a distance disclaimer at least for the routine service. (breakdowns I could see maybe). The polestar terms and conditions seem to indicate it would be driven """You are responsible for vehicle related charges connected to the use of the vehicle, including but not limited to road tolls and taxes. Our driver always drives best route either as suggested by navigation service used or according to driver's judgement and knowledge of the traffic situation in the area.
5.2

You are responsible for fines related to the condition of the vehicle (e.g. tire wear) or equipment on the vehicle.
5.3

Fines related to traffic rule violations during pick-up and delivery are the responsibility of the party driving the vehicle at the time of the incident."" but they also have a clause ""The availability of pick-up and delivery is dependent on capacity and local presence of our service providers"" which is pretty vague

Yeah it's gotta be the 1LT for a deal, but at 27,500 after the POS credit I'm super interested. The range is the real seller at the price point. Should also handle lighter towing well. The gas is rated at 1500 lbs and EVs typically from a torque standpoint exceed combustion engines pull, range on highway being the tradeoff with weight.
Also, for what it's worth, my sister-in-law really loves her Lyriq. So maybe once they solve whatever they're doing wrong with their software (hopefully the Blazer ends up essentially beta testing it into being a non-issue) the Equinox might be a great option.

Did you check how much service there actually is? Like for my EV6 all we're doing is changing cabin filters and rotating tires for like the first 30K miles. Cabin filter is $10 on Amazon, tire center is a couple blocks away. Maybe you don't even need to go to an authorize Polestar service center.

I'd say the Polestar test drive process was the best I've experienced. Scheduled it online, they came to my door, the rep wasn't even really a saleswoman. Let me drive it around, answered all my questions, and off she went without even a follow up call.

Yeah it was hard to find the service schedule but I did find it. Assuming I didn't have to use the authorized center I could do it myself without issue but for something else going wrong it could be more of an issue. I did more digging and it looks like there is a limit. If the car has a problem that has arisen due to manufacturing issues, we can arrange pickup and delivery within 100 miles (160km) of a Service point or a replacement car for 2024 model year Polestar. For previous model years, pickup and delivery is offered within 150 miles (242km) of a Service point. These offers are available within the New Vehicle limited warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles and are subject to change.

So total grain of salt here, but what I've noticed the past year is a lot of this gen's EVs are having issues with using cheap 12V standard batteries. This has lead to recalls or often people just straight up replacing them with ADM 12Vs. I could see that scenario with a three year lease on a Polestar where you have zero issues and do all the maintenance yourself, but get stuck driving 450 miles a couple times for lame recalls that you probably could have taken care of yourself by buying a $100 battery or a $40 Jumper off Amazon. Probably weigh that into your decision if Volvo won't handle potential recalls.
