I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

From wiki:

Polestar's factory is located in Chengdu, China.[26] All cars for the European market get shipped to Shanghai, China, by train. In Shanghai, the car gets placed on a boat to Zeebrugge, Belgium. In Zeebrugge, the European cars get approved after European new-car rules before getting shipped to the destination country.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Type your commute into excel and figure out if you can charge at home would be your first steps. If you mean more like philosophy, then simply not being a Prius would automatically make it better.

Eh, depends entirely on the person driving the car. Some people want the latest and greatest tech, some people want better driving dynamics.
When you said "tech", i believed you were talking about EV Tech. Not a shiny display or lightning etc.

Can we use the Federal EV tax credit of $7,500 on this? I didn't read where the Polestar $10K included it.

I keep dipping my toe in the ev pool and getting out so I'm knowledge is limited. Two questions: People are talking about getting the Federal EV credit of $7500 with the lease but doesn't the lease factor that in via the Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive? Also I looked at the charging and it looks like it could be in limited uses be charged via regular outlet but that is not good for long term use so I would have to install a wallbox but the car will be in the driveway outside and I would assume the wallbox would have to be on the garage wall inside? (midwest so elements would be hard on it if I had it installed on the outside of the garage.) Would that even work? I would assume I would have to pull the other cars and bring the ev into the garage for charging or could the wallbox cables be long enough to charge in the driveway? Looking to add a car for running around town until car prices move back to closer to historical levels and limiting my expense to do so. $8000 in lease payments over 2.5 years plus fees doesn't seem like a terrible amount to pay to do that versus overpaying for an used car at current prices which I think are bound to drop back to more normal levels.
Question 1: Yes, the $7,500 is baked into the "$299/month" lease pricing (i.e., the $8000 all-in pricing you quoted above includes the EV credit).

Question 2: Correct - you can charge on a standard (110v) outlet in emergency situations, but it's definitely going to be slow and isn't a long-term solution for most EV owners.

If you buy or lease an EV you'll want a Level 2 (220v or 240v) charging solution installed, but almost all of the popular charging units (EVSEs) are rated / sufficiently weatherproof for outdoor installation so the plug doesn't have to be installed inside. That said, you could install one with a long enough cord to reach outside if you prefer an inside install (or have concerns about people tampering, charging without your approval, etc.).

It's also worth looking at any incentives your power company may offer for owning or leasing an EV. Many offer rebates on charger installs and/or discounted rates or rate riders for charging which can help further offset the costs of installing an EVSE and/or operating the EV.

Our utility gives a rebate on the EVSE install, and then gives us discounted rates on power usage during the overnight hours so we schedule our EV to charge during those hours, but also get some additional savings for everything else that runs during the discounted hours (so it's cheaper to run our AC overnight because we own an EV, and we also schedule our dishwasher and washer/dryer to run during those times when possible as well).

It's factored into the "Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive" -- Polestar gets the rebate, and then they pass it through to you via that "incentive"

Click available cars in option 2 on this page, our zip code is 30024 and I bought here and completed all steps. Remember before paying the final down send costco certificate to local office and have them apply it. https://www.polestar.com/us/offer...incentive/

I lease one 2021 Polestar 2 and my spouse owns another 2021 Polestar 2. I liked his so much that I got one for myself. This is my second EV. I had a Nissan Leaf before this. My 2021 Polestar 2 goes ~250 mi on a 100% charge. This means that I have to make a pit stop to travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. But that is no big deal. A pit stop at a fast charger takes about ~30 min. My 2021 has the Pilot and Plus packages. (Back in 2021 all the Polestar 2s came in a single launch configuration with the exception of the performance package.) I invite you to private message me if you have any questions about the car. I have been super happy with the car for the last three years and it is VERY fun to drive.

Specs for my all wheel drive duel motor version:
300 kW / 408 HP
487 lb-ft torque

Thanks, looks like none of the inventory cars at my local Polestar dealer qualify for this price, so sent them an inquiry. I really don't want to buy a Tesla and fund Musk's conspiracy theories, so hope this works.

Ah fair. When most people talk about tech, the implication seems to have been about the ease of use of the car because the tablet works very well.

Tesla tends to get very good kwh/100miles figures out of their batteries. Their motors are good for sure, but the Lucid does even better (albeit more expensive vehicles). Their driver assistance tech works very well in many conditions (but not all). It relies entirely on cameras, which can also cause some bad accidents (like what the NHTSA is looking into). I don't expect FSD to ever become a thing until Tesla adds more sensors to their cars.
I personally don't like how a bunch of functions are moved away from buttons and stalks into the screen or the steering wheel.

If only they wouldn't have added the stipulation that you had to be a Costco member prior to April 30th, or I might jump on this!
Very, very good deal on a brand new vehicle!

What about warranty service? The nearest dealer and service center is 130miles away. It looks like the last 30 miles won't be covered if I need warranty work. Does anyone know how that's handled? Is there a per mile charge over and above the 100 mile limit or am I just SOL?

Sorry I am new to lease stuff... So effectively you will be paying about 9 thousand to keep this car for 3 years and then you have to give it back to them?
One of the biggest advantages to leasing is, with your older car, you spend $$$$ on repairs... leased cars, repairs usually not needed so soon.

FYI Hertz is dumping a truckload of Bolt EUVs with low mileage as part of getting out of the business of renting EVs
Given these are getting antiquated on several fronts, I'm only tempted if I can get for a lease , with the Fed credit passthrough.. Should see under $5k or even $4k for 2 years in that case, right?
