if you can fit their U window units anywhere (they are small) they are SILENT

I've got the 12,000 window unit going with a DC motor fan at max in front of it, drawing only 200 watts at 79 degrees

and cannot hear it, I had to put some ribbon streamers in front of it to even know if it was on or not, lol
Wow nice, too bad all my windows are sliders 😞

Still possible but takes a lot of custom work. I installed a window unit in a slide (not U-shaped).

I've got a 8000 BTU and a 12000 BTU Midea U unit, and I wanted to get another 8000, but HOA rules prevent me from having a window mount unit on the front of the house. They don't seem to mind portable units though.

I think this price is about as low as it typically gets for a dual-hose, inverter unit.

i'm confused though, is this dual hose or one? it looks to be one hose.

This one IS a dual hose, but it's packaged into a single large elliptical hose. If you look at the pictures, you can see a circular opening at the end of the hose, and I *think* that's the exhaust portion, and the area around it is the intake. I might have it backwards, but basically it's two hoses lashed together into a single larger package.

Depending on your climate a heater function is a nice to have feature, which this unit lacks. The heat pump is already there, they could add it with minimal effort/cost.
are there any you recommend that have the heater function?

I wanted to buy this, but so many reviews mention that the hose assembly is super flimsy and in like 5 pieces so it won't stay in place properly when used vertically on casement windows (which most people have)..

I switched from portable to U last year. U is definitely quieter although I can still hear it when AC is on, but much better than portable so no regrets.

U is 15 SEER. Portable is 10. So using central HVAC might be economical since central HVAC are 15+ SEER

What stops the air inlet from drawing in exhaust if it's a hose in hose with same exit entrance?
Exhaust escape velocity.

I just picked up this unit, on the box the CEER is 14.7, they must have improved the efficiency since since the stock photos shows 12.3 CEER

Where'd you get the DC Motor fan? Those are way quieter and can spin down to very low RPMs, but I can't find them in the US, at least in typical retail channels. The AC fans are terrible in comparison

Does anyone know how much water is collected per night? I don't have a window so planning to use a bucket to collect the water
Do not buy if you don't have a window …. you must have a window to exhaust the hot air
and bring in fresh air.
