I will tell you a secret that really nobody knows and I just want to say that this is 100% for real because I have done this around 20 times in my life already and I have never gotten bit once - even when the mosquitoes were thick and swarming all around me.
Clove oil.
I buy 2 oz bottles of the essential oil from piping Rock for a few dollars a bottle and a bottle will last around 50 applications for one person. Each application is good for 100% no bites no matter how thick the mosquitoes are for a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 4 hours. But you have to reapply it every 3 hours to guarantee you will not be bitten at all. The good part is that it only takes three drops from the dropper or an eyedropper per application straight from the bottle. You simply take three drops and put it into your palm and rub your two hands together and then go over your skin and the entire clothing you're wearing as well from head to foot and just keep rubbing all over your body like this for about 2 minutes and you will be 100% bite free no matter how bad the mosquitoes are or how many there are or whatever time of day it is doesn't matter either. It is 100% guaranteed to work 100% effectively like this. It is probably the best kept secret there is. The stuff is better than deet but only for 3 hours like I said. It is also not toxic the way deet is completely toxic.
try it and you will be shocked!!!
Consumer Reports cited studies that prove that that's types of wristbands are ineffective at repealing mosquitos.
"But scientists who have tested these products have found them to be ineffective. In a 2017 study in the Journal of Insect Science, researchers found they had no significant effect in repelling mosquitoes. (Past CR tests found similar results.)
"It's not that they don't contain mosquito repellents," says Immo Hansen, PhD, a co-author of the study and professor of biology at New Mexico State University. But "wearing a bracelet to protect your whole body from mosquitoes," he says, is just not enough protection."

I'll also chime in to say I own these and they are inadequate. I've noticed a mild effect when I wear one on all four limbs and am moving around, but when holding still I've seen mosquitoes land and bite within probably about 2" of the bracelet. Bit more effective brand new as well, maybe within first 30 minutes of coming out of the package and I can smell them pretty distinctly. So maybe they aren't a sham, but they are extremely low effectivity.
I am the mosquito magnet in my friends and family group. I was just recommended Lemon Eucalyptus Oil from a fellow mosquito magnet, you can try that too and see how it goes. I just bought Murphy's Natural and will test it out in a few days.
I believe lemon eucalyptus is the DEET alternative showing the most promise right now. But, for those curious, it has nothing to do with lemon or eucalyptus and it also can't be simple lemon eucalyptus essential oil. They process it in a way that brings out the repellent attributes for the stuff they use to make mosquito repellent.

I'd be careful. This stuff is potent and will cause various irritations from person to person. You don't recommend diluting it?
