I bought this in December when I moved. It's preferred the black plastic base over stainless steel because I have kids and this won't dent or show fingerprints.
I am very happy with the purchase. Open/closing electronics works fine with no issues.
I recommend this if you don't need an expensive brand name shiny trash can.
