My research indicates the Thrustmaster T16000M is the best "budget" flight stick. This seems to be the lowest price where you can get an optical sensor that doesn't wear out. I'm waiting for a good deal on one as $80 is still more than I want to pay.

For these games, you can go way cheaper.
The level of precision required is very minimal and it won't utilize most of the features a newer stick will offer.
A Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro runs $35. With a few carefully placed lead weights, it's a lot better than many of the sticks from the 90s.
I wish I could explain why I love Rebellion so much. It is objectively a bad game, but I love it for some reason. Sunk a lot of hours into that game.
I always wanted to like this one, but I always gave up and went back to Galactic Battlegrounds. I spent way too much of my life playing X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Galactic Battlegrounds!

I have this joystick. I think I bought it 10-15 years ago and it looks like they're still making it. The only issue is keeping it stuck to the table/desk. I guess that's what your lead weights are for.

I agree, I've been playing this game since it was released in 1998. It's a game that I will randomly go back and play. I also use the old Rebed modding system where I can drop in and replace or modify existing characters.
I have found that the 3d "battle" mode no longer works properly in modern systems. I just install my ISO of my original game on a Windows 98 Virtual Machine so that it works properly.
From what I understand there is an aftermarket community for x-wing vs tie-fighter that has updated the graphics for the game. Will the mods work on this bundled game?

Anybody got recs on a decent, cheap flight stick?
I would be interested in this too.
