Components most changed/upgraded are RAM, SSD and GPU. All of them can be upgraded in this Dell. Comes with a 4090 and a 1000W PS. Why change power supply? 5600 DDR5 is bad? Just looking at a $2800 Lenovo Tower 7i with same CPU and they use DDR5 5200. Your unsureness on the cooling doesn't instill confidence you know what you're talking about.

This is a tired conversation. You want to build from scratch, feel free. You think there is better pre-builts, then LINK THEM to them if you truly want to help people.

I'm thinking of going with the 4TB Samsung 990Pro with heatsink for 310ish. Then I'm never doing anything to this machine until it dies in 5+ years (hopefully).
Ok. I'll look into that. Be sure to take advantage of CB if you can. Possible to get another 15%-25% cashback if you're lucky.

I'm anxiously hoping the cashback amount is going to populate soon.. It shows my 'shopping trip' at dell at the correct time when I placed the order, but no dollar amount yet. I've seen other people in the thread say they already see dollar amounts populate, so that makes me a bit frightened.

Mine also hasn't shown up yet but I will wait patiently and see. I think we will be ok.

That's what I thought but gabrielh seems to suggest otherwise based on a recent change.

the terms and conditions as posted when you make your purchase are what controls. I've just taken a timestamped screeshot to be extra safe.

Actually their current return policy says this: [bolding mine]

"Re-stocking Fees:
For approved returns initiated within the time period specified in this policy, Dell will provide return shipping labels at no cost to you and will not charge a re-stocking fee if:

the product you are returning is defective.
you have to return a product because Dell made an error.
you are a consumer who purchased for personal use.
"
Since we are purchasing for personal use, there would be no restocking fee so long as it goes back within the required time period.

I do have both types of account (personal and business) but last time I tried to return a system (Alienware for personal use) they were adamant about the 15% restocking fee which was a first in my years buying Dell's so I just ended up selling it. (They have been doing a lot of cost cutting recently). Look like I'm not the only one but maybe YMMV? https://www.dell.com/community/en...11b36c5ce6

Pretty bummed I missed this especially with all the other CB deals that aligned with it. Ugh.

I had it in my cart earlier today, but it said "This configuration has compatibility issues and will be removed". Frown

Later,

What they really meant was this configuration has compatibility issue with their quarterly profit and will be removed..

Bought around 3, got my CB around 9. Also confirmed that I got the full 15%, and the extra 10% back was capped at $50

This was almost guaranteed to be a price mistake. They will be happy to take it back to sell for more, lol.
