I purchased this a month or so ago for ~269. Seems great for the price, a lot of features that aren't there on others for a comparable price: rack and pinion fence, folding stand, compatible with dado.

The only "issue" I've ran into from limited use so far is that it would be nice if it stood a little higher. I didn't use the blade that came with it, but opted for a better higher tooth blade.
Not OP but I purchased this 2 months ago for $270 and am 6'7". I didn't feel it was excessively short or dangerous (outside of a table saw being very dangerous obviously). For me the biggest issue is no outfeed or infeed support, I built a mobile cart to raise it to my preferred height and push it up against my workbench for outfeed support to address those issues for me.

This was my first table saw and I'm really happy with it thus far. Have used it with a dado stack, cut bevels, rips , cross cuts with no issue. My next upgrade for it will be to either make a crosscut sled or upgrade the miter gauge, which isn't of the highest quality.

Highly recommend for a beginner on a budget.

Reviews seem pretty positive. This is the lowest I've seen for the saw and I snatched it, excited to get my hands on it.

Having previously owned this, it's a solid project saw and hard to beat for the price. Don't conflate fine woodworking and accuracy with your needs and you should be fine with this. Otherwise, the infamous DeWalt is the one to go with.

Are they plastic? I remember on one of my old DeWalt saws they were.

I just ordered the metal ones, it was a pain in the ass to replace but it worked great.

I have this saw, and I love this saw. So much value for the money, perfect for a homeowner of avid DIYer. My only reco's would be:
A - Ear protection. A must. This thing is LOUD
B - Get a better push stick or GrapperPro type thing for safety reasons. If this is your first saw, it's a little nerve-wracking to push things past the blade
C - Get a right angle or square thingy to dial everything in perfectly
D - Optional but not necessary: Get a new blade. I'm still using the included blade but I upgraded to a CMT in my miter saw and it is AWESOME. Diablo are great too, it really does make a diff

I own this table saw and have been very interested in upgrading the plastic gears to metal ones. Do you have any links to the metal replacement gears and any tips on how to make the upgrade?

I have not heard of them, but they appear to be listed as a supplier by Skil which seems like a positive sign.
