It tooke me about 30 minutes to make the decision. I ended up with G7 because the scanline issue at 240Hz mode on G8 has been mentioned almost every review/comment. They both are good monitors. Also it saves me $100 on my future OLED 4k purchase.
I bought this for a mixture of work and play(80/20) and had to return it. The curve is very aggressive for text:code kind of work. My bigger issue was the viewing angles were very bad , especially vertically, there was a large color shift looking from middle to bottom or top of screen.

Oh also Samsung charges a restocking fee.

If you are having a hard time choosing between G7 or G8 Rtings has a comparison.

Got this a few months ago the last time it was at this price. Was hesitant because of the curved screen but you dont really notice it after a bit. Pretty satisfied. First monitor I've owned that actually has good, real HDR. HDR games and hdr video look great. Didn't have to do much messing around in the menus either to get it look it's best, pretty much good to go out of the box for me. Only downside is some blooming and poor viewing angles of the VA panel.

Are both of these G-sync compatible? I find it a bit hard to find online exact compatibility information specs.

They are. In fact, it's almost impossible to find one that does not support it this day. G-Sync/Freesync support is pretty much standard option, just if they are Ultimate/Premium or just standard.

Thank you for this information. I was thinking about getting it for this good price but I'm also 80/20 (general desktop usage/gaming) but am concerned about this 1000R curve.

I really think the curve comes down to personal preference. I picked this up at the beginning of April and I don't notice it anymore though I initially thought I hated it. 4k at 32" is great, and using quadrants of 16" 1080p is perfectly usable. I don't code but probably split 66/33 work and gaming with this thing and have been very happy it, especially around this price point.

Agree with most of this. Another annoyance for mac use, it does not power on when the mac wakes up or remember window arrangements after sleep. Quite annoying.

I own this monitor and use with M3 Pro 14" - I have it connected to a razer TB4 dock and don't run into any issues. Color seemed washed out when in HDR mode which really surprised me, I run at 165hz for the occasional game but use 120hz for work 9-5.

Samsung has a new line of pc monitors that'll be released within the year. If you can hold off further, I would.

I think in the past it wasn't too hard to get into these programs for the discount - is there a specific one to choose that's easier or better for the discount?
