I considered it to be a decent price because it was from Costco. This one certainly doesn't seem $300 better.
If I needed something right now, I'd be looking at the Lenovo deals that have been posted recently.
Would a laptop with comparable chip and GPU will last as long vs a gaming desktop? Would the thermals be in play with the laptop? I have the cyberpowerpc you bought too but im trying to find reasons to return it, nothing yet. Only thing I do miss is the portability, since I have consoles at home, a gaming desktop seems redundant.

I really like the desktop. It's really quiet, and has been super stable. No complaints.
Laptop cpu/gpu specs have very little to do with their similarly named desktop counterparts.
Unless you actually plan on moving around and gaming, I'd stick with the desktop.
Otherwise, you'd have to check the benchmark sites, but I'd expect to pay way more for an actually comparable laptop vs similarly named laptop chips.

Oh no I was more concerned about longevity. I know the desktop will last longer by means of replacement/upgrading parts, and just overall thermal control. I want to know of the laptop's comparable longevity to a desktop's; I know I can't upgrade the GPU in a laptop except for RAM and SSD where it applies. But, because of it's limited thermal regulation, would a laptop's longevity be affected by it? For ex: I have read stories that the keyboard is the 1st to go from thermal damage related to the GPU because of prolonged gaming sessions, etc.
I know there are no laptops with similar specs as the cyberpowerpc we both have at that price point. I am just concerned with value over time. Everybody says desktop is way to go because of upgradeability and thermal control, but man I see these laptops posted on here and the pull is undeniable. I just want to know whereas a desktop can last a decade by swapping out parts, adding more fans, etc; what's the longevity of a gaming laptop's vs desktop's with comparable specs? 7 years? 5 years? 3 years?
