Hands down Maui Jim are the only sunglasses I will buy. Specifically I only buy the STG (single thin glass) versions.

The one in here is:

MauiPure

Our most popular lens material. It combines optics almost as crisp as SuperThin Glass with ultra light and excellent scratch & shatter resistance.

So not the STG lenses.

Used to work at sunglass hut many years ago, Maui Jims were by far the best brand back then, their lenses were second to none. I hope that's still the case today.

I like glass lenses for clarity but after seeing that video about the girl who lost her eye after an airbag shattered her sunglasses, it's all polycarbonate for me!

glass lens is not safe. only buy if you don't need your eyes. airbag will cut them eyes wide open.

Damn, I didnt know that Costco had these at this price... I've been looking for these sunglasses for a while now and waiting for a discount:

The cheapest I've found them has been around the $200 mark or around $140 on ebay. Jumped on this deal once I saw that these were on the list.

I've always been interested in Maui Jim's from all of the stellar reviews and these are interesting because they are also carbon fiber frames which should help mitigate some of the weight.

If these are the same quality as older Maui Jims the lens quality alone makes them worth the price. The pair I use daily now is 9 years old with only very minor very fine scratches that I can't see thru the lens. That's 9 years of daily use. These aren't the cheapo glasses you're probably thinking of. The pair I had before these broke when I fell down a rocky trail and got smashed (me and the shades). I messaged MJs and they replaced them no charge. Doubt they'd do that these days but... customer for life right there.

I wish they had something in an aviator shape, all these shapes have thick frames, which doesn't look good on my face shape.
