Quote from StrifeZero :
In my experience, if it says shipped and sold by amazon it's most likely legit for all product being sold on Amazon. Generally, when you see negative reviews for something being fake, they purchased the same item from a 3rd party seller. But this is just what I have seen.

I read that might not be the case. From my understanding (unless they've changed their practices to stop counterfeits) is that like items are binned together. So for example, if I want to sell my items on Amazon which I get from a dubious source, I send them in to a warehouse and they get commingled with existing stock. Then no matter the seller, what gets picked from the bin is up to pure luck.

Edit: yes this is still happening. Google Amazon comingled inventory to get lots of articles about this problem. Safest bet is to never use Amazon for products that can be faked. Stick to best buy for SD cards, and chewy for pet meds. Or your favorite store that doesn't allow 3rd party sales.
