All of these ignorant people in here are talking about common Bermuda which is what this bag of seed is. It's meant to grow where people don't walk like those fast food restaurant areas that holds the drive thru speaker.

The guy above who said Bermuda looks great is talking about hybrid Bermuda which is the best looking grass next to Zoysia but hybrid Bermuda is much easier to maintain since it's engineered to be drought resistant.

This FUD spreader talking about Bermuda being brown most of the year hasn't maintained a Bermuda yard properly. You hit it with nitrogen right out of the bat on February 28 and it looks dark and lush by mid March if you follow the necessary steps of mowing frequently and at the right height.

To get back on topic with this deal don't buy this if you're trying to grow Bermuda in a patchy area. It's not the same as what your lawn is (hybrid) so it'll look coarse and thick instead of soft and thin.

If you need to patch Bermuda in your lawn, buy a patch of sod like Tifway, Tiftuf for like $3 or a pallet for $250.

Don't listen to the bozos talking about their Fescue that they have to water every day

Not sure of the hate. I am in the south and every house that has Bermuda grass looks amazing. It looks so soft and inviting. At least I think it's Bermuda.

Bermuda is a disgusting weed they like to call grass down south. Its existence is torturous to anyone who wants a normal soft and green lawn. It is dead and brown for 3/4 of the year and when it finally wakes up It will take over anything in its path and spread it's tentacles to assimilate whatever is in its surroundings. Just like the borg, resistance is futile.

My prayers to the people that buy this not knowing what Bermuda grass is and assume all grasses are the same.

Yup, me too. Then there are different types of bermuda as well, different shades of green. Hopefully it works out for all.

What type should I buy for my lawn? I'm in north Jersey if that matters.

I am assuming grass doesn't grow well on my lawn due to a large tree. No sunlight

Likely a perennial Rye/tall fescue blend

No, the soft and inviting dark green grass is fescue. They have that in the south too. Bermuda is hard and coarse. Its terrible.
Is fescue the one that looks like it grows sideways?

No, fescue doesn't send out runners or shooters to spread its seed and crawl sideways if that is what you mean?

I mean when they grow long, it's so light and delicate that it falls down so it seems like they grow sideways instead of up

Ahhh yes then if it is long and lush. Also when the wind blows strong the blades of grass move sideways like you are combing them.

The cool season grasses like fescue, rye cant survive for 3/4 of the year. The demands on water will make the home owners go broke trying to keep these cool season lawns just to survive the heat or help them reseed and germinate over and over again. Most states have water restriction rules and mandates preventing usage of water or even fertilizers.
There is a reason why cool season lawns are not favored in Zone 7s and above, they come at a cost. Bermuda has its place in lawns which have ton of sunlight and lots of temperatures with little water. They are better in conserving water resources, dont believe that matters.
Bermuda hybrid cultivars (which the seeded ones are not) are equally darker, softer, highly drought and heat tolerant, fast recover, fast spreading (in heat of summer) that no other grass can compete. People who try to keep them picture perfect are probably mowing every other day in summer, such is the aggressive growth.
If one wants spiky, hard grass look at St Augustine. Bermuda is not one of them.
