Edit: I've personally traded in several devices (phones and watch) in Mountain View. In all instances they physically took the device and gave me credit instantly. I can't personally vouch for the other stores.

Ended up doing a trade in for the Pixel tablet without the speaker. Came out to $34 dollars. Can't beat that. Hopefully the next iPad I get in the mail is in decent shape.
