My guy, Good lookin out! I just copped a new, all black BZ4X (Toyota EV lease deal) two weeks ago. Put on roof racks today and said "You know what I need a new FS carbon black bike for this". I'm replacing a 2017 Marin Iron Springs HT... Low and behold, your comment! I just got the XXL izzo 29 core 2. After the voucher code It came out to $1440 plus tax and shipping. Shipping is $120 to east coast.

How did you get $1440? Izzo Core 2 is $2600 → $2080 after 20% coupon

Edit: Nevermind, link wasn't working for me but now I see there is an outlet section

Honestly 1500 isn't decent full suspension territory if you're riding technical terrain, but you can get a nice trail capable hard tail for this price. I'd suggest that route if anyone is looking just generally for a trail capable mountain bike in this price range. Especially for new riders when learning good techniques, a hard tail is the way to go. These bike will be just fine for blue trails and most cross country riding though. Agreed the YT deal is a lot better and gets the level of equipment to ride some decent terrain at 1600. Deore would be better but it's serviceable with NX.

I bought my 12yo a Cannondale Trail SE3 with 11sp and Tektro brakes and inrode it and works perfectly fine. Front caliper did blow piston seal but warranty covered it.

Judging a bike purely by cost is extremely arbitrary and does not factor in the used market or heavily discounted sales that we've been seeing across the industry due to overstock. I spent $750 new on my first bike (hardtail Diamondback Sync'r) and it eats anything in my local area just fine (including Black jump trails in Post Canyon) despite the low price and I still ride it often despite buying a $6000 Orbea. Also, upgrading any bike to a Deore derailleur/shifter is going to cost under $100 and should never be a deal breaker from buying a well equipped bike IMO.

If you really want to drop $1k+ on a hard tail that you'll replace with a full suspension anyways the Marin San Quentin 3 definitely takes the cake as you can see in the excel. My recommendation would be to find anything that has a dropper post on the used market and send it. If it has shitty components you'll learn bike mechanics pretty quickly as well Smilie

I'm also 6'3" / all torso, you'd probably be good. If you're between sizes, going larger will give you a better seat tube angle when climbing. I have an xl decoy and it feels a touch small. Selling to get an XXL.

Indeed, but for $1500 ain't no one getting full suspension and quality components. Our shop couldn't build something better at wholesale prices, but we also wouldn't try, nor would we stock a $1500 full suspension bike.
