Wait since when? Why would they make 6 month to suddenly a year requirement? Year requirement unlocks are cancerous.


You need the whole 6 month for cricket or they won't unlock it. IIRC, they won't let you downgrade your plan easily either.

It's only good for people using Cricket, but for everyone else, avoid.

so one month of prepaid service wont allows you to unlock later on then?

anyone know the turn-around time if you order this deal and port in your number? my mint mobile plan ends tomorrow so technically it won't be "my number" if its not immediate or before the end of the day.
Also can you switch to a lower plan after the first month? Unless i end up getting better service out of cricket, i totally plan on going back to mint after the 6 months.

If I'm on Cricket now, can I just pay $160 for this phone and 1 month service with new number request, put my old Cricket SIM from my old phone (Samsung A52) into this new phone as soon as I receive it, and continue to use my old number and my old account with the new phone right away? And just cancel the new account immediately (or after 1 month?)

Sorry for my ignorance. All this cell phone stuff confuses and infuriates me.

Cricket unlock means 6 months of service with the phone. If you swap the sim to another phone they will not unlock it.

If you're already on cricket, then I would add a line to your existing account if you're eligible. That's what I did. You'll pay $100 for the phone plus tax plus whatever the additional line of service costs you. For me with four $55 lines already for $100 a month, the additional line was $40 after the multi line discount - $20 off the $60 plan.

If you don't need the new number, then don't activate the new phone number in your account. In other words, don't use the sim that comes with the new phone. Just put your existing sim into the new phone. If not activated, the new line should drop off your account after 30 days and you'll be left with a credit for the service that you paid for at checkout ($40 in my case) to use towards your existing lines.
